It's all fun and games until Death shows up

I’ve heard this song many times, but only saw the video recently. You have to watch the whole thing to get their interpretation of it and I think it rocks.  The eye rolling at the end is priceless.

Sometimes you can listen to music and pick up the lyrics and be surprised. Dave Matthews’ Crash is a classic example of this. I often hear people comment, “That’s a beautiful love song.”

Oh no, no, no:

Oh I watch you there
Through the window
And I stare at you
You wear nothing but you

Peeping Tom fantasies are not smexy. Peeping Toms do escalate from time to time.

So I am going to steal Gordon’s idea and ask you what songs surprised you with its lyrics.

    Seasons in the Sun
I used to like the sound of the song Seasons in the Sun (Terry Jacks) when I was little… I didn’t understand the words back then, seeing as I didn’t speak English and I sure as hell didn’t get the more or less hidden meaning behind them until I was a little older.

I still like the song, but whoever puts it on love song compilations needs to rethink his/her POV on love. Seriously. He’s saying good-bye for goodness sake… it’s NOT a love song… it’s actually one of the most depressing songs I know. I simply shake my head when people call it romantic.

…. sorry for spamming your blog, but I just remembered another song

Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep by Middle of the Road

It has that nonsensical title and that merry tune… but what exactly is so great about waking up to find your entire family gone, huh? The lyrics (if you can call it that ;) )sure surprised me once I took the time to actually LISTEN to them.

Justine Larbalestier has a theory that most “love” songs are actually stalker songs.

    She’s not wrong.

I always thought that really popular song “More than words” was surprising. Everyone sings it, and one day when I really listened, I realized that he’s saying words aren’t enough and having smex is the only way to show me how you feel.

“…more that words to show you feel, that your love for me is real.”

A man definitely wrote that song. :-)

How about the Police song Every Step You Take? It is considered a looove song but if you really listen to the lyrics you are saying Ewwwww. And there is the song Don’t Stand So close To Me. Complaining about a stalker :) )
Jess,as per the song Land Downunder, I saw the group singing that song on some show *back in the 80′s* and the lead singer looked totally lit up…might have been a wee bit wired, lol. I like that song very much, btw :)

Oooops,my bad, The song is called Every Breath you take by the Police. The lyrics begin with
    “Every breath you take
    Every move you make
    Every bond you break
    Every step you take
    Ill be watching you”

It only gets creepier from there.Take about a guy obscessed & blaming the girl for all His problems…
