I reckon that whatever the reason for him not turning up, she should consider her side of the bet upheld...after all she did cook him a meal - and she was in her underwear - if he didn't show then that's his own fault!!

Love love love this series. Just found your blog and this sneak peak. Evil torturous duo! Many many moons before the big reveal on why Curran bailed and acted like a bastard (prob to "protect" her)...he does deserve to get his ass kicked but I think it's great on how you are developing the story (even though, or maybe cause, it's "twisting" my heart).

I think that curran is doing it to protect her somehow. i think he realized that involvement with Kate was or is going to hurt her so he is trying to push her away. but when does curran ever say that he loves kate. i think that is rushing it a little bit.

I was wondering how this was going to turn out. We know that dinner is a big thing with the shape shifting community and Kate still seems to have some hesitancy where she wants the relationship to go. I love the building between them that have been so far in the books and the way you’re building Kate’s relationship not just with Curran, but with all the characters around her. I am a bit baffled with Curran right now – I have read some interesting comments in various places that are suggesting that there is trouble he doesn’t want her involved in or that he knows about Roland as her father and suddenly there is something going on with Roland and the Pack and so on… while I suppose those are likely, I do wonder. I’m not sure that there can be a healthy relationship between those two if Curran hasn’t figured out he can’t coddle her, and I can’t see him pulling that kind of stunt with a dinner in the first place. (Plus, he has to know that Kate is planning on kicking his ass for this. Since by now he is aware of her ass kicking abilities. Although if he is attempting to keep this quiet on the home front of what is going on between them… that might explain partially the message.)

As for him knowing about Roland… well, I suppose that is possible since we are never sure how many pieces of the pie Curran has and we know he has been gathering clues. Not entirely sure how he is going to react but since he isn’t giving out the details of his life’s story, is clearly not commenting on his half-breed status and was aware early on that she had baggage thanks to that snippet you wrote from his POV… well, we have to assume that it isn’t going to be such a huge explosions and fury about betrayal or whatever. Not that he isn’t going to be happy about it but I see several ways he can go with this.

Clearly in the last book, you were setting up more involvement with her family. Which is yay! We are getting to know more about her history which is wheeee. I think Kate’s reaction to Cullan is fantastic. I am actually really happy to see it this way because it so darn true to character. Looking forward to seeing how she reacts to this in more detail and how those in her life react.

Cullan does deserve to get his ass kicked though. Just from that message alone, actually. =)
