When I first started writing, I really did feel frustrated with hearing, “show, don’t tell.” I couldn’t figure out on my own just what that meant.

Now that I know what it means, though, it’s *fun* to point it out when I’m editing a manuscript for a client, or to implement it in my own writing.

Although, as an editor, I’d like to add that, as long as they produce good stuff, an author’s personal voice and style trumps any rule–even this one.

Anyway, this was a *great* post on the elusive “show, don’t tell”!

You’ve probably heard this a billion times by now but, Thank You! This was an awesome post! One of the biggest shortcomings that I’ve noticed is that a lot of writers have the tenancy to narrate too much, yes even myself at times! I really appreciate how specific you are in giving examples, before and after! Love your work and Thank you for your time!

It really means a lot when an author takes the time to write the type of posts that you do. Sure Curran snippets are awesome, okay more than awesome, but I love the insights that you share. Add to that examples galore and you have a happy blog reader/camper/fan.
