Just some random hate at various people for various reasons.
Also, Lisa Kleypas is de bomb. I’ve read her latest on Saturday in a couple of hours, bought the Wallflowers 1 on Sunday, read that in a couple of hours, bought Wallflowers 2, would’ve read that too, but had to watch Jesus Christ Superstar. Kid 1 is unable to comprehend JCS. “Mom, Jesus is singing. It’s like they took the Bible and weirdified it.” Me: “You should’ve seen the old version. It has hippies in it.” Kid 1: “Oh GOD.”
It’s been soo long since I’ve been able to finish a book. ::pets Wallflowers:: My precious. It’s very light and girly. I need light and girly occasionally, because I am naturally dark and twisted, and possess the ability to describe it in vivid detail. I usually have to consciously censor myself as I write. (Even Alpha Mens is censored – I toned it down in the second draft. The first draft was sicker.) So anything that lifts me up for a few hours is good. Must put more Lisa Kleypas on my wish list.

Yeah i got a Lisa Kleypas thinghie as well, favourite wallflower book: 3, is da best!
Kleypas faves:
Devil in Winter, aka wallflower 3
Dreaming of You, it’s also in a casino, who’d know casino’s aren’t just for thrillers
Suddenly You, also has a heroine novelist
Kleypas i hate:
Only with Your Love, Grrrrrr!
Prince of Dreams, this one really p****s me off, i mean, it has a tiger and a Russian Prince, what could go wrong? *grumbles*
Sometimes, girliness just needs to come out! I will have to try her books out.
What Sandra said- Dreaming of You has one of the best heroes EVAH! Mmm Derek
Also recommend –
Worth Any Price (love Nick!)
And Then Came you.
I also love her contemporaries- although her first one is more like a Coming of age story instead of a straight romance. But Blue Eyed Devil is fantastic!
I agree, a lot of her books are keepers. There are the Wallflowers, of course. Dreaming of You is one of my favorite books of all time.
I also really like her contemporary series as well (Sugar Daddy, Blue-Eyed Devil, etc.).
Good stuff.
Ps. Your angry little woofie is adorable!
Light and girly is good occasionally. It helps balance things out a bit.
BTW,I loved Alpha Mens!!!
Ditto my mind twin.
Devil in Winter is my favorite Lisa Kleypas of all (I’ve probable read it 10 times)…the spinoff series (the Hathways) is pretty good as well,,,
have to agree with Sandra Rose, don’t read Prince of Dreams…its a completely different style of book than her later ones and follows the Judith McNaught tradition of heros that aren’t heros who abuse/cheat on their wives are possesive but not loving and somehow at the end is supposedly rissolved…not very well
but the rest of her books are pretty great! I personally prefer her more recently published works though.
I’m obviously going to have to check her out.
My current fave girl-fluff laugh my @ss off reads are Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series (One for the Money, etc.)
=A
At the moment I hate (nearly) all people for no reason.
Since I know there is no reason to hate people I try not to act accordingly, but my mood is black.
I love your work, but I wouldn’t mind to read some of your darker, more twisted, “sicker” work.
Alpha Mens is great and even in a light mood I would like to read more. I hope you will find time to write more… after Kate and Curran and William and…
Yeah, the more you do and give the more people will ask from you.
Maybe I will try Lisa Kleypas as therapy. Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series I have read already. The first 13 books are hilarious.
Lisa Kleypas is great therapy. I turn to her after a tough day in the classroom with 10 year olds!
And I agree with everyone else: Wallflowers #3, Devil in Winter, with Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent is my favorite, along with Derek Craven in Dreaming of You.
Loretta Chase is another author good for girl-fluff happy-endings.
Loretta Chase’s The Last Hellion and Lord of Scoundrel’s are two of the best romances ever in my opinion. I also love Kleypas’ books.
For lighter reading, I like her Carsington brothers series. Especially Rupert!
I laughed out loud at Sebastian’s reaction to the fight over the icon, but this is the book I keep tissues on hand when I reread. Lord of Scoundrels is my gold standard for romance.
“I need light and girly occasionally, because I am naturally dark and twisted, and possess the ability to describe it in vivid detail. I usually have to consciously censor myself as I write.”
Ditto. Except I tend to be more psychologically disturbing than gruesome, though I have a bit of that, too.
For more fun and lighthearted, try
Julie Garwoods, Historical fiction, not her contemporary fiction.
If you like Kleypas you must try Eloisa James Desperate Duchesses series. Great girlie books when you need a break from dark and twisted or can’t stand the thought of one more vampire or werewolf!
To add to Kid 1 weirdified bible experience try Godspell.
i agree read julie garwood’s historical fiction not her comtemporary her humor is done better in the old books
Love Kleypas. The Wallflowers series is amazing, but I love the Hathaways also – particularly the first one. The second book won the Rita, but the first one – I’d put Cam up against St. Vincent any day, as his equal. Love those bad boys.
Someone to Watch over Me is another of my favorites.
Loretta Chase and Mary Balogh are two of my favorite romance novels. I’ve recently been tracking down Chase’s out of print works. They are worth the effort. I just finished The Last Hellion (companion book to Lord of Scoundrels). Both are awesome. There are two other books in this very loose series. I’ve read one of them but could not get The Lion’s Daughter. Yet. The other one I read is okay, but I probably won’t re-read it. I’m too lazy to go check the title.
If you haven’t read the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole – well, you are missing a *lot*. My favorites are A Hunger Like No Other and Dark Desires After Dusk. Seriously funny and very sexy heroes.
My goodness! It seems we all have very similar tastes..yay! Usually everyone who walks by me at work and see me reading a romance novel during lunch makes snide comments. Heathens! Have any of you ever read some of the following authors?
Sally MacKenzie – Naked Baron, Naked Duke, Naked Gentleman, etc. ( she makes me giggle)
Stephanie Laurens
Nicole Jordan
Celeste Bradley
Candace Camp
And for those who like Paranormal…I love:
Sherrilyn Kenyon
Robin D. Owens
Nalini Singh (love them all but for some reason really love Angel’s Blood and Archangel’s Kiss)
And my absolute favorite, other than Ilona of course, ANNE BISHOP!
