The internets seem to be back, whee!

:hates on Comcast:  We bought a new router, because they said the problem was in the router.  The problem was on their end, but now we have a new router that looks something out of Star Trek.  I keep expecting it to split open, sprout metal spider legs, and skitter off the desk.

Happy Veteran Day to Gordon.  :)

EDGE 2 now has a title: BAYOU MOON.

The hat with cat ears has to be remade.  Kid 1 wore it non-stop.  She even slept in it, unless I managed to snatch it off her head before bed.  Eventually it had to be washed.  I knew the yarn had angora in it, but I figured the bamboo would balance it out.  Nope.  Even with a gentle handwashing, the hat developed a very typical angora fuzz.  It also stretched a lot and no amount of blocking would fix it.

Just for the record, angora and bamboo is a terrible combination.  The yarn in skein is heavy, shiny, and slick.  Any kind of wear or contact with water and angora goes fuzzy, so the resulting product does not look like the finished product.

Much mourning of the hat occurred.  New hat will be made with different yarn.  Results will be posted.

A moment of silence for the deceased hat.

The Internets were bad up here, too. I was forced to use dial-up (oh the humanity!) Had to send a 1MB file to the agent. I swear three new galaxies were born during the transmission process.

Thanks to all our Veterans for being there for us. You folks rock!

*sigh* I’ve been having trouble with mine today. Though sadly thats pretty common. So anyway yay, your back!!

Thats not such great news about the now deceased hat, my sympathies!

Today is Remembrance Day here in Aust so I’ll second the thanks with much admiration and gratitude.

That makes sense. We were in that one together, too. In the U.S. red poppies are a symbol of WW veterans. Do you use them, as well, or were red poppies less common in the eastern Mediteranian?

I have some glitzy black alpaca handspun I made. There is more than enough for a kitty hat, and I won’t be using it, it was just a carding/spinning experiment for me.

(It’s the one on there far right.)

Let me know if you’d like it.

All this talk of knitting just reinforces how terrible I am at being handy. I have to be the least self-sufficient person around. All I am saying is, if it weren’t for my skills with horses I would be pretty sure I would be worse than useless in an agrarian-type society.

    Thank god for technology!

Love the new title, Bayou Moon. So sorry about the hat, gotta love the visual of taking it off of the kid before they go to bed. Happy Veteran’s day!
