How do you send a killer to the grave when he’s already dead?
Having narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans’ voodoo queen just keeps on giving–leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.
Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive. This year, however, a determined Cat and Bones must risk all to send him back to the other side of eternity–forever. But one wrong step and they’ll be digging their own graves.

I was going on a long car trip, and needed a book on tape. Found “Magic Bites” on Amazon.com. Hmm, vampires. Okay, looking for entertainment to make the miles go away faster. Got really hooked. Got home and had 2 weeks before next long car trip. Quickly ordered “Magic Burns” on tape. Got even more hooked on that trip. Got home, and IMMEDIATELY bought “Magic Strikes”. I’m loving this series. Only problem: having to wait for the next book.
Now, I’m devouring this genre from the library; and have a major rant: authors who do not finish the story in one book. You get into the story, the book ends, and you are left hanging – so they can sell another book or 3 or 4! That infuriates me! I will NEVER buy a book by an author who does that! There are 2 who come to mind right now; and I’m boycotting them, and spreading the word.
It makes it look like they are only capable of writing one book; but chop it up into several books to make money. That just looks greedy. Surely I can’t be the only one who gets angry with this!
It doesn’t always have to do with greed
. Sometimes that’s the way the story comes out.
For example, Magic Bites originally was a quarter longer. I had to chop it to get it under world limit, but it could’ve gone the other way. It could’ve been that if the book was significantly longer, like 140K for example, the editor could’ve said, “Put another 40K in and we’ll split it in two.” I would’ve done it. It was our first contract – I would’ve stood on my ears, if they asked.
It’s hard to bring the book to a satisfying conclusion and still give people that, “I can’t wait to see what happens next!” feeling. I know that I personally have to work very, very hard on it.
OHHYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD! *squeal* It is so pretty *squeal* I can’t wait for it to come out!
Awesome! One step closer to getting it into my hot little hands!
