All hail, Lord Panda, King of the Snippets.  :P

I need to be working, but I am so tired.  I edited something unrelated to Bayou Moon this morning and now my head is all in that story instead of this one.  I’ll get it back together.

Christmas is beginning to arrive in the form of amazon packages and I know for a fact that my Wish List on Knit Picks has been ordered by Lord Panda.  Mmmm, yarn.  Purty, purty yarn.  I’m working on a pair of socks right now, but the yarn came from someone else, and they kind of feel sticky.  Do your ever notice how wool sometimes feels a little sticky?  Is it just me?

So my working on this unrelated thing has got me thinking.  What would you guys think would be cool to do next?  (This is hypothetical, of course, since right now I am still contracted for Kate.)   I’m not sure if there will be more Edge books at the moment, and theoretically we could do a third series. I know this is all pointless, as Russians say, written with a pitchfork on water, but still, I wonder what would be fun.

How about Alpha Menz? I love it! Or Derek & Julie…to be published after KD? Or Dali & Jim as a short story? Or continue “a mere formality”. I would love to read more about that particular story or something else set in that world.
What I especially enjoy about your writing is the great worldbuilding. And there are so many things that are out of the common. The vamps in KD just being the most obvious example. And of course the dry humor.

What about a fantasy series (or book) that’s urbanesque in style – ie mystery solved, adventure had in a single book – but true fantasy in world building and character archetypes (sorcerers, lost heirs, overwhelming invasion odds)?

But of course with the trademark Ilona Andrews wit. And romance. ;-)

I’d plunk down the cash in a second for something like that.

I have to agree Alpha Menz would be cool. A novel would be cool or maybe you could do it as a ebook novella series.

Or a Kate Daniels Anthology. Short Stories on other characters in the series?

The question is ilona what would you like to do next?

Silent blade was a cool story maybe a sci-fi/futuristic book. or (I know you have said this somewhere so sorry if i get this wrong) you said something about wanting to write or something to do with writing a little more violently or at least making stories or scenes more violent. (sorry if ive got that wrong) Why dont you write a horror or a thriller or something really dark/gothic or just bloody.

You seem to like mythology, you ever looked at one and thought about re-writing it, using the basics and making your own version up?

And you meantioned your trunk. Maybe there is something in there you might want to play with and time away from it has given you fresh ideas.

Or if youve had an idea thats made you go “hmmmm… I wonder!” why not play with it and see what happens.

Oooh oooh! Alpha Menz! Yay! Or, short stories with Jim and Dali? What about short stories from the adventures of Kate and Jim? Or Kate’s bodyguarding for Simon? Definitely some humor there! Sooo many possibilities! If you go with short stories maybe you could squeeze them in BETWEEN releases of Kate?? Hooray! Because, yanno, you don’t have anything else to do, right???? :)

Alpha Menz of course, and that magic mobster, story with the girl and her family, (you gave us a snippet a long time ago and I can’t remember what it was called). Both have the potential to be great series or even stand alone books.

But I would definitely love more sci fi settings or a continuation of the Silent Blade universe – loved the mafia styled family or a true fantasy setting like the others said.
But I got a feeling I would enjoy anything you would write :D

I second the vote for more of Deirdre’s story. You’ve got it posted under “smut” I believe. :)

The writing style reminds me of Lois McMaster Bujold, which I quite like. I keep meaning to ask you if that was on purpose. Although I’ve been meaning to ask that differently, as in which style were you trying for (see recent posts on Regency style, detective noir, etc).

But really, I’d love to see any of your free reads turned into longer stories. [Hmm, I see some have disappeared. What does that mean?] A Mere Formality, Days of Swine and Roses. And what happened to the one about the superhero types?

I go with the majority here: Alpha Menz all the way. However, I also think you guys would do really well with something darker. Sometimes you have to push the envelope. As for the YA, I dunno. I agree it’s huge right now and I tried the Twilight and Vampire Diaries series and gotta say I spent the whole time reading them thinking are these girls stupid? They just weren’t for me. I like mature kick-ass heroines like….you know it…Kate Daniels. So…yeah something darker, I’d like to see what horrors you two can come up with. As long as there are no zombies!!

You’ve got me sucked into Alpha menz by now, although I didn’t like the first chapters too much – not enough good to balance the bad, but they created very intense feelings and there seems to be enough good coming now :) I don’t know if I’d publish it under the same name, though – it’s so very different from your other books, but hey, what are you two guys for? You could just branch out with Gordon’s name ;) And I LOVED days of swine and roses, I would love to see how that story goes on!

Hehe, forgot something… I’m not sure about YA – comparing to Kate and the Edge, you’d have to tone down the sexual attraction quite a bit and I don’t know how much that would impair your writing… I love how you do it, btw :)

I also like Alpha Menz, but i think i like what you’ve been doing, using it occasionally to give tidbits to us.

The Emma story, now that one was really really really interesting, if you think you can make it into a book, that was very good!

also i did like your horror short-stories a lot, maybe something on that line?
