Timeline: Fourth Day of Vacation
Status: Twiddling thumbs. Twiddling.
Brain: trying to pretend to be repaired. But I know better. Remember how I mentioned that intense writing for a long period of time robs me of all nouns and I can’t remeber what things are called? The day before Christmas I had made a metric ton of fried chicken fingers and I tried to sing the Milkshake song to commemorate my culinary awesomeness. It came out somewhat like this,
“My milkshake….
::trying to remember the lyrics, stalling, stalling, nope, epic fail::
Woo, I made fried chicken…
…..
…..
And everyone is in the yard
….
Because they want chicken fingers.”
Yeah. Words. I am all out.
Christmas was so awesome. I got an Ipod Nano. I am all high tech now, which means that when I walk the dogs, I will
- have motivational rhythmic music
- will stop talking to them non-stop
- can plot while walking
- can weird random passersby out by singing. I sing very, very badly and always off-key. I couldn’t carry a tune if it was sewn onto my gloves.
I also got a Book Nook. Will try it out next month, after the payday, but so far I poked around on it and I really like it. Some people say it’s slow, but it doesn’t seem to be that laggy to me.
I should probably knit something. Or play the new game. Oh it’s so cool. It’s called Valkyria and it’s all sorts of awesome.
So how was your Christmas?

The fact that you wanted to sing the milkshake song might mean you still need vacation!
My Christmas was lowkey and quiet, just the way I like it. I got an ipod, too, and already it’s being filled with songs that noone wants to hear me sing along with, singing Stupify by Disturbed out loud even might get me in trouble.
Won’t they miss the talking to?
What do you do for your crust? Just flour or flour+stuffs for flavor?
My Christmas was all good! I got a fabulous Ott light for my art and sewing. And a circadian alarm clock. (I realize this might excite no one but me but… I was pretty freakin’ excited!) I’m glad yours was happy and I want the kids to post photos of their new dollfies (sp?)…..
Ipods are win. I couldn’t live without mine, except they’re a bastard when the laptops dies along with all the carefully cultivated music on ITunes. Twice its happened. TWICE!
My Christmas was nice. Got a lot of great stuff and plenty of money to spend. I know the first thing I’m gonna get is a pair of snow boots for if and when it snows again. I also plan on getting some more knitting stuff and try to learn to do more than scarves!!
The only downside to Christmas was that everyone was pretty tired and I had no power at the place I’m housesitting at. Nothing like spending Christmas night alone in the dark!!
Had to work, but my elderly client is awesome so that’s fine. We watched Terry Pratchet’s ‘Hogfather’, my holiday tradition as of last year, and she loved it.
Got in touch with my sister and parents to be sure they survived the blizzard, which they did. 8 and 14 inches of snow may not sounc like much to many of you, but that just does not happen in Oklahoma and the state was completely unprepared for it. When my sister went to work, next day, she says she was about the only car on the road that was moving, and had to creep through an obstacle course of abandoned cars: in the parking lots, on the streets, on the highways…. It was like a giant child scattered his toy cars all over and walked away.
=A
Our Christmas was wonderful. We opened presents in the morning, then we went and got my 96 year old great grandmother for Christmas brunch and later Christmas dinner. In years past we’ve spent Christmas with some unpleasant relatives, but this year it was just our family and Great Gramma, who’s a sweetheart.
You definitely need more vacation!! The prezzies sound awesome. Plotting whilst walking — always entertaining for passersby. Especially when you mumble about poisons and decapitation.
We spent Christmas Day with my 90 y/o mother-in-law. She’s a sweetie. But the best day was the 26th (hubby’s birthday). We ordered in pizza and spent the evening watching Moonlight and Life while consuming some of hubby’s very potent homemade wine. Yum.
Well I Ilona Andrews’ book on my Ipod for Christmas.
I had a chilled Christmas too. Have been off work since Christmas Eve and have just discovered Witchblade. Apparently it was on TV about 10 years ago – I am so behind the times
I have been sitting here watching episode after episode, eating Toblerone and ignoring the housework. Bliss!
Oh yeah, and Yancy Butler (Sara) and David Chokachi (Jake – he even wears a grey sweat top!) are my ideal Kate & Curran. At least they were in 2001…
Laid back Christmas around here. Not in rush to get anywhere… calling for ice and all in VA. Fixed biscuits and gravy for breakfast and ate dinner with friends. A wonderful day for us. Oh, and I got a Sony Reader too!!
Christmas is fantastic! The kids are great, they put on a show (all singing and dancing) for us. Niece3 is 18 months old now and she is such a happy baby. I’m stress-free from work! It will be a struggle to get back to work.
I’m not a very good vacation person. I’m the guy in the commercial that plays with his laptop while wife is Away. When she comes back he slings it on to lounge chair & throws beach towel over it. Then she sits on it.
I decided not to work till next week. Is very hard.
Christmas was nice. Kids are happy.
Not wanting to sound like an idiot but what is the milkshake song?
b
I got a glue gun as my christmas present… The minister at my church gave me that weird look when you know they think your crazy when he went round asking everyone what presents they got… I did try and persuade my mum to knit me a hat with ears on like the one you knitted but she hates knitting so bought me one with a panda face and pom pom ears instead which is almost as cool…
Glad your holiday is going great… Hope the rest of it is good and you have a happy new year…
“My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, and they’re like, ‘It’s better than yours’, damn right, it’s better than yours, I can teach you, but I have to charge.” For best results, sing in nasally high pitched voice. It was really big and quickly annoying back in ’03.
Okay. That’s just wrong. Now that refrain is buzzing around my brain.
I’m scared now… vaguely remember that song…
Christmas was decent. I took 24 hr duty since I’m single. Awsome friends welcomed me over for Christmas dinner.
Let us know how you like the Nook. Fiance and I have been eyeballing them.
Happy Holidays!
Christmas was great – my DH gave me a necklace with a pendant that says “Loved.” so romantic after 20 years! Luckily he liked the unromantic sports coat I got him! Also gave me Fannie May Pixies…yum. Dogs have eviscerated 3 of 5 toys they got. Everyone’s happy.
My husband got me a coffee maker that he hopes I can not ruin!
I sometimes forget things when stressed or distracted (or without caffeine) and have been known to forget to put a filter in. Also one coffee maker was really fussy about where the pot was situated and since it was one of those that allowed you to pour a cup before the pot was done brewing this would cause coffee to overflow.
All the spillage and such is not good for electrical stuff and the last one only really worked well for about a year. I manged to nurse it along for another year.
my xmas… I got snowed in (the drifts are taller than me by about a foot) and the internet decided that it didn’t want to work…but santa came I know has 5 newish books!
You have my sympathy on not being able to carry a tune.
My mother was asked if she would withdraw me from choir because I was destroying the harmony. I think I was 8 at the time.
Bad enough at that age, but then asked to leave chorus in high school for the same reason.
Husband has threatened me with expulsion from car when I try to sing with radio.
Does that give you an idea of how bad I am?
My parents just went with treatening/actually throwing the CD’s/cassette’s out of the car window whenever I tried to sing along… I learnt pretty fast that if I liked the song and wanted to hear it again, not to sing along…
I made out like a bandit for Christmas. I put “On the Edge” on my Christmas list; and daughter got it for me. I’m hoarding it until I absolutely positively MUST have a fix.
Husband got me a liquid silver necklace and a 2′ tall geode – encrusted inside with huge amethyst crystals. Weird, I know; but I love it. Sits on our hearth.
Mother-in-law got me flannel pjs. Hmmm… could now start my own store filled with nothing but flannel pajamas from my mother-in-law.
My christmas was good, it was great to be home… however I am so supremely jealous that you got a Nook. I want one… but they aren’t available to order in Canada and I don’t know anyone really in the states, also they are sold out until February so I am thinking I will settle for the Sony PRS-600 but… I have to wait until I return to Edmonton so I can buy it in person. Since once agian, you can’t order it in Canada. sigh…
We are having a wonderful Christmas break visiting family.
However, my Christmas gifts are waiting for me under the bed back home: a full set of Meljean Brook’s books! I cannot wait to read them.
In the mean-time, since I’m in Texas, I’ve been reading American Western romances which is an interesting change from my usual book choices.
really good thanks! weirdly relaxed despite brother sleeping on my couch for the holiday season:) hes so messy!
Love my nano !!!!! Sing loud people love it, I always do, very off key and I’m sure the wrong words too. hey, they smile at me it must be good right ?
I had a fantastic christmas lots of time with my kids and hubby. I am re-reading On the Edge, it’s even better the second time around. The Andrews books just make me fee; happy down to my bones !
Have a great New Years eve.
Lucked out on Christmas this year. Got a Wacom Bamboo tablet and an iPod Touch 3G. Woot! Now all I need is a macBook Pro and my life will be complete. (Thank God for the tablet, have you tried drawing in Illustrator with a mouse!? Doable, but annoying)
I meant to ask you why you decided on the B&N Nook, rather than a Kindle? Debating on taking the plunge. Would be interested in your thoughts.
Thanks.
I have to wait on full review until payday, so I can buy some books.
