I’m not a knitter, more of a crocheter (even then I only do simple blankets), so I’m just curious as to how you make sure the socks are the right size. Do you try them on as you knit them to ensure they fit, or is there some standard size that you follow?
Awesome job on them, by the way! They look like they’re super soft.
You can put them on as you knit. These guys are knitted from top to bottom and I made Kid 1 try them on a few times. You can measure your foot, too and ballpark it. When the socks are made from toe up, which I prefer, it’s even easier to try them on.
ohh, they look cool! and snuggly warm.
This makes me wish I could knit. I love fun socks!
Maybe someday I’ll try and teach myself…
ah, see, for a while there, I didn’t realize you meant pattern…I thought you meant like, the old sock monkey type creature….
OSSIM!
Told you that you could do it!
/me goes to find a new challenge for you
Very cool! Do they zip? What’s the little hooky thing on the side?
Pretty.
They look so nice and warm!!!
When do you find the time?!!!!!!!!!
Lovely though.
What makes them monkey socks? Are they different from badger socks? I do agree to the coolness factor, though.
That’s what the pattern is called:

Awesome work! Knitting socks is such fun! Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not cool!
If you’re anywhere near Atlanta, there’s an awesome yarn store there run by a very cool chick, Erin, called Eat.Sleep.Knit that I really wish I were close enough to visit in person! They can hook you up with all sorts of gorgeous yarns.
Toe-up is totally the way to go though–easier to try them on and make sure you don’t run out of yarn! I’ve got several free toe-up sock patterns available if you’re looking for one and I’m happy to answer any questions if needed

Ilona, they are so cool! Look nice and warm. xx
Oh how I wish I could knit.
They’re awsome!
Cute! They look warm and fuzzy. Good job
Very pretty, I love the colour.
So why are they called monkey socks?
Ok, never mind, I see the question has already been asked and answered.
Duh, me
Wow these socks look great. You are soooo clever Ilona!
They look great! I just finished my pair too… although I’m sad because I selected a yarn that doesn’t have that much give and so they now go to my sister @.@
I vote twisted flower for the next one http://www.cookiea.com/patterns/twisted_flower.html
Yup. Been there, knit it, love the socks. Mine are grey.
They look great! I love knitting socks, they are the best portable project!
I love Monkey socks! I’ve made a couple of pairs (regular and no-purls), and the recipients have loved them to bits. They’re quick knits and the lace pattern is very forgiving in terms of fit. I highly recommend them as a good introductory sock pattern for anybody who is just getting into sock knitting (those or Jaywalkers, which were my first pair). I am so stoked to find that an author whom I admire so much is also a knitter!!
