BTW: Make sure you take names of every person you talk to regarding the pets on the plane and print off the airlines regulations as well. When we flew with our cat, people either weren’t sure what the regs were as well as missing pet comments and payments. I had copies of EVERYTHING which kept us from having to pay multiple times.

I love the snippet, too bad it is the book after this years. I have what will probably be seen as a dumb question. Why are you shipping car and animals and flying out to Portland rather then driving with said animals? It isn’t bad to drive cross country and quite possibly is cheaper then flying and shipping. Flying these days is ghastly. Anyway just a dumb question. I hope that all goes easy and well
Because that would be somewhere between 5 and 7 days with Ilona and the girls in a car, the Honda Element, and me driving a small to medium moving truck with the dogs in crates in the back. We would probably not be able to drive more than 10 hours a day at about 60 miles an hour if we are lucky. The weather has not been great so if we don’t get snowed in somewhere we would be very fortunate. So we have 3 dogs and three cats and 2 teenagers in a vehicle while Ilona and I drive 10 to 12 hours a day in craptacular weather. Also, the gas for two vehicles, meals and hotels for five days, hope to find a hotel that will take the dogs or they would have to spend the night in the truck. Or we can fly for a little over a thousand dollars.
I guess isn’t bad to drive cross the country depends on what your definition of bad is. The cats are going to come with us on the plane, so even if it is ghastly it will be so for only one day as opposed to one week.
