    *THUD*

    MUST. HAVE. BOOK!!!!

    Ilona you rock!!

and as much as this pains me to say this, I would keep that copy, no matter the good intentions of whoever receives it, it could end up circulating, and that would be terrible. I wouldn’t do it.

    Of course, I do however, love ARC’S :P :D

As an aside – I’m so happy you guys are moving to Portland! I hope you love it here as much as we have. We moved here from the midwest and our mantra when it came to the rain was, “At least we don’t have to shovel it. At least we don’t have to shovel it.”

“the emotional payoff is huge, opening up exciting plotline possibilities” This quote makes me happy beyond words!

I understand your concerns, but here are some ideas

    1) I have a beautiful empty binder that would be just perfect, and a 3 hole punch, since I haven’t been visited by any vamps lately.
    2) I’d gladly sign a contract that would bar me from ever being able to read another of your books if any of this ended up on the internet, hell, I’ll give my computer away until June if that would seal the deal.

What ever you decide, I can’t wait to get my hands on this book, and I just finished reading On the Edge today, so now I’m doubly hooked on your great stories.

    Good luck with your move.

I don’t mind giving them away, but how would you chose a winner? Would you do a contest or what? Also Luka looks way to stoic in that shot, it is I believe a misrepresentation of the dog who thinks he is a hundred pound bunny. Also spit should be dripping from his huge open mouth. The pic of Del is spot on.

That is some serious tauntage going on. :D *Glares at countdown clock* I certainly can’t speak for everyone, but I’d forgo the ARCs in favor of that night chat session/ Q&A that was tossed around earlier a couple of months back.

Thanks for tossing us that little bone. *grin* Sounds like a great scene.

Hmmm, aside from signing some of the galley pages, maybe you should have the contest only on your forum to limit the entries?? Or make the contest require that we send a receipt of our pre-ordered Magic Bleeds to discourage the e-sharing??

P.S. I loves me some Luka!

Loved reading the Curran/Jim/Kate scene and wanted to know what was on either side of that page… just as you intended! :) It was a wonderful tease and I loved reading the “blurb” page as well! I’ll go back to trying to distract myself with the forum and other books until this one gets into my grubby little hands and onto my iPod! (since I’m planning on buying book twice does that mean I can get double entry into contest?) :-D

I don’t think anyone who frequents this blog is likely to care about the loose-leaf aspect. Here are my thoughts on the interwebs issue: 1) The signing across pages would probably be easy for people to either photoshop out, or to just type up a copy of that/those page/s and insert it/them to hide their evil thievery [if they cared to, I guess]. 2) Probably the people who follow your blog think of you as a real person, which discourages the evil thievery mindset…and the ones who most desperately want to read Kate 4 are probably people who really love reading and appreciate the importance of respecting authors and books.

I do love the charity idea. Perhaps whoever wins can contribute either volunteer time or $$ to their local food bank. And definitely put a “canary trap” into the manuscript. Your regular folks aren’t going to do anything tacky, but not everyone is on the level.

    I SEE BOOOOOOK! *hyperventilates*
I can understand that you might not feel too good about giving it away right now. But anyways, here’s what I would do with the book: I would put it in the middle of my bed, arrange the blankets and pillows as a nest around it and stare at it for about two hours. Then I would jump right in the middle of it all and read IT while exitedly hopping up and down…..ok, that might be the crazy and hyperactive solution, but I (like everybody else) am SO looking forward to that book!!
I hope your move goes well. *hugs the doggies*

    thank you sooo much :D

I must confess that i love the idea of you giving an advance copy of magic bleeds. So because i am really biased let me give you some tips (if some people have not already done it) :

    - give an electronic copy, because there’s no way to protect/trace a real sheet and paper one. Unless you want to bet on people laziness (which could work), people seldom re-type an entire manuscript but they could scan it though…

    - you could watermark and lock your electronic copy, some software do it easily to your entire document => the pros it will prevent people from copying or direct accessing the document, and they’ll have a constant reminder that it’s yours and how it was given, =>the cons sadly there are software which allows you to break through those locks (even though I don’t know if they can break all kind of locks), and from there people can copy the content to make a “refreshed” one

-you could add a typo in your document, a mistake of some sort or a change of wording in one place in the book just for this copy, this way you’ll only have to check where you made the typo to see if the leak came from the reader you chose or not, => the pros it’s a foolproof method (or nearly), =>the cons it will not prevent the leak only tell you where it came from

Wow that’s my longest post ever ^^, but i hope it was useful and that it might help in your decision to give (or not) a copy ;)

What a great page to show us. I’m super excited for the entire book to come out.

Perhaps you could create a quiz and everyone with the correct answers gets entered to win? That means that the person who wins has (hopefully) read the books and didn’t just wander in from the wilds. It’s been a while, but I was thinking about re-reading the books before the new one came out anyway, so this could be my excuse.

As for the potential leakage onto the interwebs… there aren’t any truly foolproof ways to prevent it. To prove who did it, you could leave out a less important page or two. It’s easy to spot in a quick browse through and then you could send forth your army of lawyers. I hope you would send out the missing pages after the book release, because I know I’d keep it as a collectible.

Why does enlarging that page make me feel like some kind of book junkie? Like a little fix was available and I had to have it. I couldn’t, turn away.

I think if you decide to give away a galley or an ARC, just having a random drawing would be the fairest way. Not everyone has blogs or writes reviews, but everyone that comes here loves your work. So just picking a random person or persons seems, totally fair.
