This is my new favorite video from my old favorite band. It is really about them carrying on without Steven, but it seems oddly appropriate to as we approach our deadline to depart what has been our home for nearly five years now. As happy as I am to leave, for some reason, I am feeling a little sad. Today is our last day to pack our belongings into the pods, and I am nervous as I don’t know if everything will fit. We will be roughing it for a few days after that.
Thursday we get to see the Alice movie at midnight, yay! After that we come home, grab the cats put them into the rental car and head to the airport.

I suppose it’s normal to be a little sad … after all, happy memories are tied to the place you lived for 5 years. The new place will have lots of happy moments, too, though….

Tim Burton movie Coraline was bad for young kids.
hey! thats not fair! My 5 yr old neice LOVES that movie. Its to the point where I know all the lines and she dresses up like Coraline trying to find the lost kids.
At the time my children were 5 and 6 yrs old. So the story line -Caroline having to love the other Mother enough so she would rip out her own eyes so her other mother could sow in buttons and then be put in a small dark room so she can be then eaten by the other mother and be turned into a scared lonely ghost wasn’t so great. Not to mention the two sweet old ladies where turned into half naked sagging breast women trying to entice men with their bodies.
My son was mommy what is that..I had to say her breasts. My daughter was ..Why would a mommy do that to her child? I had to explain that was the monster that looked exactly like Caroline mommy.
It was not a family movie at all. It was very inappropriate and very disrespectful.
Your looking at from the wrong way. From the movie my neice understood that not everything is as great as it seems. we were at the store one day and she saw a Princess and the Frog doll that had a frog in its hand. and when you pressed a button the doll lifted up the frog and kissed it, some lights would go off and the doll spoke too. I was going to get it but she said no. I asked her are you sure? she said word for word, “the battery will die and the one at home i like better”.
And she understood why Coraline made a point to help the ghost children and to save her parents. but what I think made such an impact on her was the fact that no one can replace Coraline’s mother even though they may offer the chance to play in mud, to stay up late and do what they want or gives you the pair of gloves that you want. I feel like my neice knows that you cant buy someone’s love. She probably understood the movie because she was taken away from her mother by her paternal grandmother. Now she lives with me and my family until my sister can get her life together again so her daughter can live with her.
The movie isnt for everyone but for my neice its the best movie ever right next to Enchanted and now The Princess and the Frog. Though I do have to explain what a wuss puss is everytime and what a ghost is…lol.
I am glad the little girl has you and your family. And if that movie makes her feel good then that ‘s wonderful. It hard being a kid. Send good cheer and warm wishes to you and your family,

Roughing it for a few days? We have been 7 weeks without our stuff while it took a slow Pacific cruise (via rowboat, I think) from Hawaii to Seattle. I am so looking forward to my own bed and pillows; my own kitchen appliances and dishes; and my own place!
Now, since you probably think this isn’t about me, congrats on the move. I hope all goes well, and think of all the space you are moving to! I hope Portland agrees with you. I know you will agree with Portland.

Moving is very hard whether you like the place or no. Usually we find it hard to go because it is so familiar. Good luck though and by the way the I loved the movie!

ARE WE THERE YET?
This is like a 12-step program to break my addiction to this blog. Let’s just say it’s NOT WORKING, PEOPLE! Here’s hoping a flash of news will eventually appear. I mean, what else do they have to do? (honest, i’m joking)
I’m so glad I’m not the only one that’s obsessively checking to see what’s up. Portland is about a 3 1/2-hour drive from my home. If I knew their actual address I might actually do a stalkerish drive-by.
Careful. They might put you to work unpacking action fingers. Of course, I doubt their “stuff” has arrived yet anyway. They’re probably getting acquainted with the city and living out of a hotel. If I wasn’t slaving on a project, I might even come up with a snippet to support that scenario. Evil grin.
NO! Not unpacking! I have boxes of stuff stashed around my house that I have no idea what to do with! (Probably I should throw them away.)
I am not a writer or creative person, so I have no snippet. I’ll just provide the update on their new home: Temperature is in the low-to-mid 50s and it is raining; 100% chance of rain tomorrow and 40% chance the next day. (Did they not read Devon Monk’s novels or did they not pay attention to the fact that it rains a LOT in Portland?)
I have boxes in the garage from when we moved in — thirteen years ago. So I would be the last person to be worthy of unpacking someone else’s things. It’s raining here in Georgia, too, so I suspect they’ll feel right at home. At least the scenery is different.
