Madeline writes:
“Please, please, please release Magic Bleeds on Kindle format. I live in a small town. We don’t even have a bookstore! The closest bookstore is half an hour away, and it takes too long too order the print version. I love your books. I’ve been waiting for Magic Bleeds forever. Please don’t make me wait any longer.”
Nancy pleads:
“Hi – i just received a cancellation notice from Amazon indicating my Kindle pre-order of Magic Bleeds was cancelled because there is no longer a scheduled release date. Is this temporary? i’ve become so used to have multiple books at my beck and call in my kindle when i travel that trying to gather up paperbacks and find spots in my tiny luggage is a horrible thought. please please please put it out on kindle!!”
For the last time, we don’t put the books on Kindle. We have no affiliation with Amazon or it’s proprietary electronic reader the Kindle. We don’t know why they’re not available. Our best guess is that Amazon and our publisher Ace have had a disagreement about the books (many books, not just ours) and how much Amazon should charge for them, in this case specifically how much they should charge for an electronic version.
I think the Kindle is great and I love getting goodies from Amazon. We do the majority of our Xmas shopping online. I am sorry that those of you that ordered the book or that planed on ordering for the Kindle have been temporarily stymied. As far as I know it is still available for the Nook (Ilona has one) and probably the Sony E-reader. I just checked iTunes and did not see it, frankly surprised that they do have the other books.
As we have stated before, all we do is write the books and if we’re lucky sell them to Ace. Our publisher decides when, where and to whom the book will be sold. That is it. End of story.

The books will be available on I-pad – they just don’t show preorders for some reason.
and no, i don’t hold any author responsible for the lack of books on kindle. god, i want cherryh’s books on kindle but i can’t get them. so…. dead tree it is!
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704032704575268531490989028.html?mod=rss_whats_news_us&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+wsj%2Fxml%2Frss%2F3_7011+%28WSJ.com%3A+What%27s+News+US%29&utm_content=Google+Reader
According to the WSJ, Penguin and Amazon resolved the dispute and the books will be available via Kindle…..now whether or not Magic Bleeds is available yet – I have no idea…..I have an IPad.
I have a kindle & then found I had to buy a Nook as they have a much bigger selection of ebooks at this time. Much more fun to use, can personalize your screen saver & listen to music! Plus you can read Magic Bleeds! It’s the publisher thing…..
I feel for you….sorry you guys are caught in the middle.
FYI – the e-book is also available for the iPad, along with all of the Kate series.
I pre-ordered it in print when I realized it would not be available for the Kindle. I don’t know how I missed the online discussions on this but I did and once I realized no matter how much I kick my heels on the floor and other trantrum antics I was going to get the book no matter the format. I know how frustrating this must be for you but looked at it this way. Readers want your book so much they are pleading everywhere for help in getting it.
you know… DRM um…. there are PC readers for the variety of ebooks available at Sony, B&N and Borders. :::nods::: I would like to humbly suggest that perhaps people purchase those ebooks and read them on their computer.
*coffsmakingnomentionofDRMnonsensecoffs*
:::hugs you both::: we have sun down here!
Amen. **stupidDRMdoesn’tdowhattheythinkitdoes** Aren’t computers fascinating? After all, my Kindle’s technically a computer too…
I got my Kindle preorder cancellation on Tuesday night, and had my e-preorder in place with BN.com a few minutes later. I’m not letting a little thing like a publisher/retailer pissing duel stop me, nor did I immediately haul off and whine to the authors! I don’t understand why people think that’s a good idea.
Hugs to Ilona and Gordon, just keep writing. There’s really nothing else you can do on your end, and most people understand that.
I am always amazed at how . . . dense . . . some people can be while using the latest technology.
Also, my daily commute to work is 45 minutes to an hour one way. Suck it up. [I've been kind of cranky lately.]
If it came down to it, couldn’t it be purchased in a different format from somewhere other than Amazon, and then convert it to the kindle format using Calibre? (I don’t have a kindle so I don’t know for sure if that would work….)
Anyways,
I am sorry you are caught in the middle and it’s another reason why I hate Amazon.
Thank you for being awesome!
I still don’t hate Amazon. I get a lot of books and comics from them, so really it is convenient. I guess if I had a KIndle and only got books on it, I would be bummed out to.
Yeah, it is a bummer. I’ve had my Kindle for two years, and I LOVE it. I’m sorry people seem to not understand that the fault here lies with Amazon and Penguin, not the authors whose books are caught in the middle.
I’ve done quite a bit of reading about this since it started, and I do find it annoying that 1) Penguin appears to have settled with all other ebook retailers BUT amazon, including those, like B&N, who price their books exactly the same as amazon. And worse, 2) Penguin is not allowing ANY mobipocket versions of their books to be sold to US customers, through any ebook retailer, not just amazon. Which is really, really frustrating, and feels like they’re punishing us, the readers, and not amazon.
I have no idea what the real sticking point between amazon and penguin is, but I sure do wish they would settle. I miss my Kindle, since it seems a vast majority of my favorite authors are penguin authors.
However, until they settle their differences, I’ll support my favorite authors by buying their books however I have to.
Tuesday can’t come fast enough!
Ahhh, but then there’s the issue of DRM (digital rights management). This little piece of security is illegal in the US (and some other countries) to remove from electronic files (such as ebooks) in order to convert the books to the format you prefer.
But…not sure how you’d get caught or what they’d do to you if you did. I mean, not like you’re going to remove the DRM and put it online for a free-for-all, right?
Natasha – yes, this is possible but the DRM would have to be *cough*altered*cough* first. Its entirely possible, but requires some tech know-how that a typical reader may not have.
I don’t even know what a Kindle is LOL I only know the Kinder chocolate … yummy … Do you have Kinder surprise chocolate in the USA ? ( unrelated to te topic sorry ! ). Anyway, nothing beats a good old paper version, it can not be deleted by a bug LOL
Kinder chocolate!!!! So good! My friend brought me some back after her trip to Germany. I saw some once in a Canadian sweet shop, but have yet to see them in the States. Though I would think that some import stores would probable have them, I personally only go to Asian markets rather that more European aimed ones…
funny, I’ve only had them twice and I remember what they are!
and I agree paper is better than e-format, which can be TAKEN AWAY…though it is convient when you would otherwise have to wait/drive far away to get a book you want.
Oh for pete’s sake!!!
I feel for you guys. Sorry you are having to deal with the backlash of Amazon
Sorry you guys are caught in the middle of this, seems silly that you are still getting emails about it when you made a point to explain it already.
I have a Kindle and I use Amazon more than any other site so it does suck, hopefully your publishers and Amazon come to some sort of agreement.
As for converting other types of files for the Kindle, I don’t think that is possible, Kindle uses a specific type of file but if I am wrong someone please let me know!
It is possible to convert other formats to kindle format using calibre. However Calibre won’t convert books with DRM. It is possible to strip the DRM of a book you LEGALLY own, but that’s a fairly complex method. (If interested look on Mobileread forum.) If you do decide to try it, you should know that you might lose some features during conversion. For example: cover, table of contents.
Thanks for the info, I will have to check it out.
Kaelyn, there IS a workaround for legally buying the books for your Kindle, I just discovered it last night myself.
Apparently, the Amazon/Penguin issue only affects US customers. If you go into “manage your Kindle” and change your location to Canada instead of the US, the Kindle books will suddenly be available for you to purchase. They cost slightly more, I assume because the US dollar is not very strong right now, and you’re paying the Canadian price, but it’s worth it to me.
That seems outrageous to me. (The whole not available to American customers!) I just worry there would be consequences to changing your location falsely!
I have the Kindle >:( so I am reading it on my iTouch
I downloaded the B&N eReader app [free], bought the eBook from B&N, and viola! I have the eBook version without having the Nook!
I also bought the ebook from B&N, but it won’t let me download the file until the 25th even though they’re already shipping the paperback
How on earth did you manage to download the ebook? I’d love to know!
Same here – bought a Nook rather than Kindle partially because I can’t wait past May 25th. First thing I did after plugging it in was pre-order Magic Bleeds. Second was to buy yet another copy of Magic Strikes… which is good since my paper copy has walked off with my mother (who is now a convert).
My daughter’s a little young to read it on her own yet, but she’s heard a few passages… so we’ve got three generations of ‘Magic’ love going on.
Hmmm… Magic Love… sounds like a risque brand name…..
Anyway, I’ve tried telling the Nook to download Magic Bleeds several times but it flat out refuses. How oh how did you make it happen?
So sorry guys! Technically, I didn’t. I read MB in paperback form ( bought from B&N online) Spirit Bound was what I bought for the Nook and read on my iTouch. I just wanted to let people know that is IS an option. I wasn’t even thinking about release dates.
Thanks for replying, Aly! That’s a drag — I was hoping that there was some sort of workaround, so we could download the ebook before the 25th! Oh, well. Hopefully, it’ll be available one minute after midnight!!
So…wait….you’re not gonna put your books on Kindle?
LOLOLOL I love the title of the posting.
I hope the furious(and uninformed) emails are slowing to a trickle..Sooo excited about this book!!
*hugs to you guys!*
Madeline dear, I feel your pain but if you really love these books half an hour isn’t too far
When the final HP book came out I was spending the weekend at resort on the Great Lakes near Duluth for a wedding. It was probably an hour from civilization…so far out that there was no cell phone service. The day of the release my family made it a point to drive to the nearest town to get the books (everyone needed their own copy after all!).
I buy most of my books on Kindle these days but love the Kate series so much I think I will purchase hard copies too!!! Can’t wait for the release date – am considering trying to see if I can manage to only read a chapter a day to make the experience last longer, but highly doubt I have that much willpower.
Thanks for creating such an amazing world for us all to visit!
I have a Kindle and I haven’t had a problem putting books on it that don’t come from Amazon. There are a few ways to do it. One you can send the ebook to Amazon and for 10 cents they will send it to your kindle. Or you can download it to your PC and then transfer to the Kindle by USB.
I’m so sorry you guys got caught in the middle of it all. I hope these kindle requests won’t stress you out! *deep breath*
Wow, some people and their kids I swear
I don’t own a Kindle and I’m pretty sure the book will be avalible on Nook so I’m a happy little peach. Even if it wasn’t I still plan on buying a paper copy just so that collection will be complete.
It’s hard for me to sympathize with these people because I don’t own a kindle, or any device really thats just meant for reading. I will keep that in mind. What is the great inconvenience in buying a book at a bookstore, if they want it that bad? Anyway, after all I’ve heard you talk about how little power you have over the situation, I really feel bad for you. People don’t realize they’re barking up the wrong tree
Because if I can’t sleep – or I’m not sleepy – I can buy a book at 3:00 am and get it on my Kindle in 30 seconds. I LOVE that!
Eh I complain because I live an hour from any real bookstores, and the Kindle was the easiest way to get books. I order from Amazon all the time, thus why I have a Kindle. I liked being able to get the book the day it came out as opposed to waiting for snail mail. My husband has an Ipad, reading on it gives me a headache after an hour or so.
Dig the ebook readers. It means less dusting, and not having to store tons of books.
This is why I’m happy to have a Sony Reader.
*thwapped*
I’m sorry y’all are still getting the brunt of this confusion, though.
I have a Kindle, but I ordered Magic Bleeds from Barnes and Noble when I realized Amazon and Penguin weren’t going to kiss and make nice for the release date. I’ve sent emails to both companies and complained for all the good that will do. I am trying to hold off on books that I’m not desperate to get. So far Magic Bleeds is only the 2nd DTB I’ve bought that I couldn’t get on Kindle. If something is out by an author I love that won’t make it to the Kindle for a while I’ll buy the book.
*Sigh* down here we don’t even have the option of purchasing a kindle let alone putting anything on it (and personally I hope Amazon chokes on the IPad’s success because at least apple remembers that the southern hemisphere exists and likes to purchase books online)
Bah. E-books are lame anyways. Who honestly likes staring at a computer screen for ages and ages? Who prefers the cold, clinical touch of metal and plastic to the crisp, sensual texture of real paper? What if you want to take a book to the bath with you? An e-book reader would be rather hazardous in that situation, while a regular books greatest risk is that you’ll need to go buy another one if they pages get messed up. Plus who wants their entire library on a little square? What if you lose it/it gets stolen?
Yadda yadda yadda,
My Magic Bleeds will be good ol’ reliable dead tree format, thank you very much.
(man, I sound so OLD in that rant…)
Who honestly likes staring at a computer screen for ages and ages? – The wonderful thing about ereaders, like the Kindle, is that you’re not staring at a typical computer screen. The eInk technology that the devices use are so similar to staring at a real book, that you can read for hours and hours, without the eyestrain.
Who prefers the cold, clinical touch of metal and plastic to the crisp, sensual texture of real paper? – Well, I’m prone to paper cuts. No, I’m serious. I once got excited about something at work, and ended up with a paper cut from a notepad (I wasn’t holding) underneath a fingernail. The lack of paper use is really a safety measure.
What if you want to take a book to the bath with you? An e-book reader would be rather hazardous in that situation, while a regular books greatest risk is that you’ll need to go buy another one if they pages get messed up. – Ziploc bags were made for this, I swear.
I’ve done it. And, it’s better than a real book because if you DO drop it in the water, nothing gets wet but the ziploc bag. Oh, and you can turn the pages without worry.
Plus who wants their entire library on a little square? What if you lose it/it gets stolen? – I love having access to hundreds of books in a few seconds. My husband was getting frustrated with the amount of space my books were taking up. And if I lose it or it gets stolen? I’ll cry, cuz that’s pricey, but if I got a new one, Amazon archives all my books downloaded from their site, and I can refresh my library on my new device.
I realize you’re probably saying a lot of this with tongue-in-cheek, but there are very valid reasons why ereaders are so popular. It’s also sooo nice to be able to sit around, read my books, and have a new one in seconds. Oh, it’s also better for the environment, I swear. No gas mileage to use, no trees to hack down and the production of said books probably uses much less energy.
An e-book reader is NOT better for the environment. Think a minute. The metal bits need mined, refined, shipped here and there, put together with plastic bits (made from oil, so drilled for, shipped, refined, shipped again…) shipped back across the globe, etc etc etc. Paper can be recycled(Harry Potter was printed on recycled paper) and more trees can be planted while metal and oil are non-renewable resources. I personally wouldn’t be caught dead with one. Also, the copy of Salem’s Lot my grandma passed on to me is now worth thousands. Can your e-reader do that?
Amen to that!
And what about ink all over hands?
And reading in any position – on the floor, by the pool, on the beach, in bed?
I loooooove being able to stay up all night reading an e-book and not have new gray smudges on my face, my glasses, the doors in my apartment (painted white), the walls in my apartment (ditto)…
I take my kindle in the bath with me. Danger is my middle name! I figure if I drop it I will just change my middle name to Moron.
They make plenty of waterproof covers for the Kindles, Sonys, etc. It was one of the first things I bought for mine, and I use my e-reader in the bathtub all the time.
And as with any other electronic files, backups are a part of life. If I lose my piece of plastic/glass/metal, the files still exist and can be moved to a new device.
Dead tree books are fine, when they’re beautiful, leather-bound, and printed on fine paper. A paperback is not a “sensual experience”.
Waterproof covers, pfffft. I laugh in the face of danger. I put my kindle in a storage sized ziplock bag when I read in the bath.
So I read the title of this post and the first line and seriously LOL’d. I know I’m not supposed to find your misery entertaining, but it’s just so ridiculous at this point that it’s funny. Sorry. Somewhere, someone with a wicked sense of humor is lining people up and convincing them that the way to get their fave books on the Kindle is through Ilona Andrews.
I ‘m sory you guys have to keep answering questions about the e -versions of your books.. But I can understand how Kindle owners feel, too.
I have Nook, and I was very upset when I couldn’t get the new Patrica Briggs ‘Mercy’ book on the day it came out. Fortunately, one week later, Barnes and Nobe had it available for the Nook .So maybe Magic Bleeds will be available on Kindle in a few weeks…….
First, let me just say that HALF AN HOUR from anything isnt very far. Much less for something you are freaking out about not getting on release date.
Second, I dont understand why people think an author would purposefully deny themselves a venue of sales. Give me a break!
Sorry, I feel bad that you both have to keep defending something that you have clearly stated multiple times you have zero control over! Jeez.
I’m annoyed at not being able to buy your book on my Kindle but I don’t understand all the people yelling at you like it’s your fault or boycotting your book to show Amazon/Ace what’s what. I’m not going to punish authors because of a fight that they don’t have control over. I’m just going to go buy it in paperback when it comes out and buy it on my Kindle later if they kiss and make up. (All my favorites books go on my Kindle so I can take them all with me when I travel).
And I am SO excited for Magic Bleeds and so jealous of those people who pre-ordered from B&N and already got their copies. I’m re-listening to Magic Strikes while at work so it can be fresh in my mind when I finally get my hands on Bleeds.
I changed my Amazon preorder to a B&N deliver it to ME NOW! order today, and noticed they have their eformat for sale already but it’s not going to be downloadable until the official release date. Hopefully that helps someone.
I pre-ordered it from B&N, got it last week in the mail. Read it twice already. LOVED IT!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
WAAAAAAAA here too. I been calling B&N stores and they don’t have it in yet. Maybe we can all go to Katherine house and peek at the book through the window. Only kidding…I am a little jealous ( putting green eye’d monster back in the box).
I feel so sorry for the kindle people. You have my sympathy. I have a nook, but I can’t download it until Tuesday. I tried to pre-order it from the store hoping it would be in today but sadly it had yet to arrive. I should have just ordered the copy to be sent to my house but I thought the store would get it faster. Bummer. Oh well…I waited this long a few more days won’t hurt, much.
E-books might be more convenient but there’s something so satisfying about a physical book! Got mine in the mail today and just finished it. LOVED it!
This reminds me of a funny story concerning my bro.
He is 15 yrs younger then me and grow up in tech age. Everything to him is done on computers. One time he had a report to complete. After being told repeatedly to shut down his laptop due to storm; lightning hit and BOOM. No more laptop. This kid freaked. He called me and asked if he told me about the subject over the phone would I type it out for him and then remote print it.
I died laughing. I asked him why he didn’t write it down on paper then type up tomorrow at school. He was speechless. He literally could not get past NOT having a computer to write his report. I told him that paper has been around for hundreds of years and was considered an acceptable medium. He hung up on me.
My point? If you can’t get the book on Kindle…order it in dead tree form.
Heh, of course, if it was a laptop he could have just unplugged it from the wall (pre-boom) and kept on working.
I don’t have a comment about the Kindle but there’s something I always wanted to know…what’s it like, writing as a husband and wife team???
*runs*
I know where you live. You want more yucky pictures, hush.
omg, that was truly evil *g* hehe
I got the same thing from Amazon a month ago, but they made it sound like the pulisher and Author no longer wanted to release on Kindle. Since I’d been following your blog, I knew you had no control over Amazon’s decision.
BUT THERE IS A WAY AROUND IT!
It didn’t work for me because they could tell I wasn’t in North America but…
Barnes & Noble: you can download their free e-reader software for your computer (not as comfortable as e-ink, but it’s Kate 4) and you can buy their e-book version of Kate 4. You can then download it to your computer and read it on your computer or iPhone. The B&N software is Mac/PC compatible so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
lol head smack moment
I haven’t been too worried about it myself because there have been lots of books where the Kindle version didn’t show up until the release date of the print version. Don’t know if it has to do with the publishers or not, but I’ve seen it happen a lot. I’m still betting it will be there.
So… I understand the desire to feel like you’re doing something. You want the book on Kindle. You want to do something to make that happen. Good for you.
THE AUTHOR CANNOT HELP YOU!
That being said, go to Amazon and look up Magic Bleeds. There’s a link on the left hand side that says “Tell the Publisher! I’d like to read this book on Kindle”. Click it and you will receive a message that says: “Thank you for requesting Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, Book 4) by Ilona Andrews in Kindle Edition. Our goal is to make every title available for Kindle. We will pass your specific request on to the publisher.” Emphasis on PUBLISHER.
Hope clicking the button makes you feel better.
No comment on the electronic book problems. Give me a “real” book any day, sorry.
But for the reader out in the sticks who has to drive half an hour? (And FYI, half an hour isn’t even close to being a hardship). Pre-order the book on Amazon and you’ll get it delivered the day of release, or even sooner sometimes. I mean, come on, if you want something badly enough…….
Why isn’t it on the kindle again? JOKING!!! Seriously people, I know everyone loves their electronic readers, but don’t you just want to hold that latest Kate book in your hands? You can stroke it and give it smooches and….sorry, got carried away there.
I have a Kindle and I use it for new authors, freebies etc. The authors I love I have to have the physical book, and then put it on my shelf to read again when the mood strikes me. I like SEEING it right there on the shelf:)
I agree. Certain books have to be on hand for numerous caresses and squeeing over.
I like your reasoning… but mine is the opposite.
My favorite authors have to be on my ereader so I can carry them around in my purse… close to me… and instantly accessible at all times. Especially those precious moments at the doctor’s office, in the line at Dunkin Donuts drive through, or when I pull into the drive way and realize both kids are blessedly asleep.
I bought a special purse that perfectly fits my kindle… but I had to switch back to the paperback purse today since I am expecting my Magic Bleeds in the mail.
This is why Sony e-readers are better
Hugs for the stupid Kindle thing and readers who do not understand!
Have something for you that totally reminded me of Kate and Saiman, especially after the last snippet that you posted. In Crusie/Mayer’s new book Wild Ride, a fortune telling machine pops out this card for the heroine “He loves you as much as he can, but he cannot love you very much” As soon as I read your snippet, I thought instantly of this quote!
You guys need an automated response. Seriously, I think people havee started bugging the authors because they can get actual human responses out of them, even if it is only “!@#!@^#%!!!!”
When we email amazon and Penguin (not that I am doing it weekly or anything) all we get is the automated Blame The Other Guy™ and Soon™ responses.
I ordered my dead tree versions of Magic Bleeds and Dreamveil (Lynn Viehl) 2 days ago from Barnes&Noble online. So ultimately amazon and Penguin will get the last laugh because I KNOW I will also buy the e version of Magic Bleeds as soon as this whole… thing.. is resolved. Burning Lamp (JAK) and Savor the Moment (N Roberts) are out of luck though. I read them in the store, with coffee and a scone.
Their re-read potential is low and will get no $$$ from me.
gordon, ilona,
I’m sorry you have to deal with this. unfortunately people either don’t get it, that you have no influence on the kindle-issue or they think it’s convenient that you are ‘easily’ accesible. they don’t know how to reach a responsible person at amazon, it seems.
I hope that amazon and the publishers will soon reach an agreement and you don’t have to deal with these kind of frantic e-mails anymore.
Hey guys,
Don’t stress. I know that the book disapeared from the Kindle store some time ago but it’s back!
I ordered it two weeks ago and, so far, no notice that it won’t be available. I don’t know if it’s because I’m in Canada…
I hope I won’t have a bad surprise on the 25th.
If Amazon decides to pull the rug from under me, I will just have to buy the ebook elsewhere and, as Jim said, there are plenty of efficient ways to convert an ebook bought elsewhere to Kindle format.
And here is how these paperless books end up owning your ass!!
I find it ironic that although “Penguin” has chosen not to sell this book for the Kindle, they have a picture of the Kindle on their home page. I wonder how many readers they are losing? I am done with this author and other authors represented by Penguin. It’s not like any of these books are classics. It’s just junk food for the mind like TV shows, there’s always another one to get interested in.
2 hours 28 minutes until the great B&N servers release Magic Bleeds for my nook….
DRM is evil. Wouldn’t it be great if an ebook was an ebook was an ebook?
Write Amazon a letter and ask them to support epub from B&N and from Adobe on their ebook reading device. Include “Anti-Trust” and “1990s Microsoft-like behavior” and even “apple-ish” several times. Then buy a Sony / Nook / Kobo or one of the weird ones that are popular in eastern europe.
Oh, and order a paper copy as well!
Just got Magic Bleeds on my Kindle! Not sure if it was a mistake or what since I haven’t heard that they came to an agreement…but I don’t care! I got it and I can’t wait until lunch time at work so I can start reading it.
I think I will stop in the middle of the book I am currently reading to read this one instead.
Oh, and I got two other books I was waiting for…but Magic Bleeds is first on my must read list!
The book is out on Kindle!
I love my Kindle…wouldn’t trade it for all of the iPads or eReaders or Nooks in the world! The book was released the day after non-electronic publication. Sometimes, the publishers ask for that, which is why there is a day delay.
Either way, it’s there, and the book is fabulous! I read it all in one day…stayed up til the wee hours of the night. I couldn’t put it down.
)
I prefer having an ebook to a dead tree book, UNLESS its from my favourite authors or its manga. Then I use the physical books to convert people mwahahaha. Its the same with my movies/anime – all on my external – unless its educational purposes (history teacher lol), by my favourite actor(ess)s – ie Jet Li, or anime. As it is I have 2 full book cases of books and 1 of dvds. If I had all the books and movies in a physical copy, easily 4 bookcases of books and 3 of dvds. I don’t have the room for this. Yes dead tree books are nice.
BUT in response to the person who complained about the making of ereaders like a kindle – One kindle per person as opposed to say, 200 books (roughly what I have at the moment) thats alot of dead trees vs mining and oil. Yes, this isn’t helping the environment and destroying mother nature, but so is the computer you used to type that message (which you can use as a reader – download adobe digital editions, or Microsoft Reader or even go to ereader.com and download their software). I use my laptop too as a reader (YAY For distractions in class.. lol), as well as the electricity/gas you use in your household, the petrol you use in your car.
Society as a whole is every wasteful unfortunately. So please do not rag out ebooks.
I also use my iPhone for the more portable use if I am on the bus or at a friends.
Just read Magic Bleeds on my Kindle – fantastic book. Love the humor, love the by-play. Had to wait a bit for it to be available, but I sure am happy now!
I’d rather choose to read on a paper than to read on e-book. I don’t know why. By the way, I love your books too.
