Remember how David J. Williams appeared last week and told you that he was remote-controlled by his cats?  Remember how you thought he was crazy?  That it was all part of his overheated imagination – some fevered version of his memory-hacking cyberpunk books?  You didn’t believe him, did you?

Good.

Because now it’s too late.  Our work is complete.  Here’s what Ajax and I have transplanted what’s left of Dave’s brain into:

AJAX:  Let’s torment him further!

ZOOM:  Why would we do that?

AJAX:  Because we are CATS.

ZOOM:  Good point.  Got anything to say, Dave?—I mean Mr. Rat?

AJAX:  Bwhahahaahhaahaha

MR. RAT:  Yes.

AJAX:  Make sure it’s praise for your Cat Overlords.

MR. RAT:  Actually, I’d like to announce the winners of the contest.

AJAX:  Contest?

ZOOM:  What the heck else is there left for us to win?

AJAX:  We already got the lifetime supply of free turkey.

ZOOM:  And the endless quantities of catnip.

AJAX:  Not to mention the magic self-cleaning litter box.

MR. RAT:  Sure, but what about the Autumn Rain books?

ZOOM:  What do we need those for?

AJAX:  After all, we wrote ‘em.

ZOOM:  Well . . .  I guess we could use a few more to line that litter box with.  Now that you won’t be able to clean it anymore.

AJAX:  Maybe it was a bad idea to make Dave a rat–

ZOOM:  Live for the moment, Ajax.  That’s the name of the game when you’re a cat.

MR. RAT:  What I’m trying to say is that you…. didn’t win the books.

A MOMENT’S STUNNED PAUSE

AJAX:  Maybe we should eat him now.

ZOOM:  Let’s.

MR. RAT:  Phew.  That was close.  Anyway, now for the winners, and then I’ll get on with being a rat.  But if you don’t see your name on the list below, you don’t need to gnash your teeth.  You can still order the Autumn Rain books on the links that Ilona has helpfully set up for you and then leap into the 22^nd century where cats remain cats and never pull this kind of bullshit ….  though there are plenty of hijacked spaceplanes, exploding space elevators, and lunar south pole hijinx to keep you entertained.
