still alive

still-alive
in bed, typing on the iPad. it’s morning and I ought to get up but I don’t want to.
The workshop went well, nobody cried. People did occasionally hug the pink dino we brought.
We met Rachel Caine, who is so awesome, and Michael Bishop, who was equally awesome.
We have some panels today and a shindig at five, I think. Unfortunately, the hotel bucked at letting us bring the booze in, so there will be just Anne, us, and a lonely Bayou Moon ARC to be given away.

Lucky people there if you have the arc for them.
I am glad nobody cried, i hope you can enjoy
your time there, have good talks and meet nice
    people :)

It’s too bad my wishing to be there to meet you both doesn’t count. Unfortunately that also makes my getting a arc copy a wish that will be unfulfilled. Oh well. Off to tackle this sunny 15/59 (C/F degrees) day in Calgary, AB, Canada. August anyone?

I like to snooze too :)

I don’t think the Bayou Moon ARC is lonely…..there are LOTS of people who want to get their hands on that thing. =)

At least you had a dino for the ones that needed comfort.

Is this Armadillocon? I read Martha Wells’ LJ and she said she met Michael Bishop, too – probably two entries below yours ^^, heh. Or maybe he just is omnipresent…

Okay, if I weren’t blind I would have seen the name of the cone in the sidebar. So I encourage you to also meet the awesome Martha Wells if you and she have the time ^^.

And you’ll do so on Saturday. I’ll shut up now.

    No booze? Well geez!

I’m glad it went well the pink dino sounds like the perfect compromise between the red card the the comfort animal idea. Personally i might have been one of those that needed the dino. Not because i wouldn’t want the critisim – I’m just one of those girls that tears up. Somtimes even if the reactions is too good. I used to laugh at my mom and grandma when they did that. :-)

The pink dino was adorable; however, I will admit, nothing puts the fear of God in you faster than a) going first (I volunteered… I must be insane) and b) having the first thing out of Ilona’s mouth be “Take the dino.” Pink dino or no, that was a scary moment. :)

To be fair, both Ilona and Gordon were very nice, and the issues they pointed out were things I needed to have pointed out. Plus they said some very positive things as well, so it all worked out. If you ever have a chance to be in a critique group with them, totally go for it–it was awesome!

Procrastinating in bed with an iPad should be a new, long-honored tradition. :)

Is it just me, or do you find typing on the ipad to be extremely frustrating most of the time?

  13. Pam

It sounds like it was great. The dino is such a cute idea. I’m so glad to got to lie in. I firmly believe an afternoon on the couch with a good book restores the soul.

  14. Pam

Um, that was *you* got to lie in. Can’t type.

    I hope you’re having a wonderful time!

I am sure the pink dino was perfect for the situation! No one likes critique, but it is a very valuable service. Can’t get better without some changes. ;)
