It’s a cold blustery day in Portland, Pooh-Bear. The temperature has dropped almost over night and the sky is overcast. Fall is coming, I can feel it. By the way, my iPad came with an edition of Pooh Bear preloaded and it looks totally awesome. I was trying to read it on the plane ride from hell and the familiar illustrations were so comforting.
We have given up on trying to sell the house. We’re now trying to rent it out. Go, house, go!
I stole Kid 1′s nail polish and painted my toes grey. They now look hideous. I don’t know how the same color can look totally great on her and totally awful on me.
We bought this totally awesome bracelet at the dealer’s room at the Armadillocon, made of memory wire. I want to make one myself, but I’m not sure what to buy for it or where, heh.
Need to work. Today needs to be a solid writing day, so we don’t get fired.

ilona, I know that confusing phenomenom of nail polish looking good on one person and icky on another. my cousin wore a very nice violet nailpolish and I bought and tried the same and……. it looked hideous! absolutely horrible on me! made my skin look sickly yellow. ick, ick, ick. my skin is NOT yellow.
it’s cold over here, too. Summer sneaked off when I was not paying attention and now we have about 12 °C here. windy, rainy, icky. meh.
Most bead stores will carry memory wire. Or you can get it online, like here: http://www.firemountaingems.com/shopping.asp?skw=KWCORDMEMORYWIRE
Good luck with the writing and the house renting!
I guess I shouldn’t mention that it is about 27 C here in my part of the midwest. And I bet money it is humid too, though I haven’t been outside yet. I can’t wait for fall and less humidity.
::pretty kitty::
I have experienced the nail polish phenomenon myself…its frustrating. Its hot and humid and I believe we have a hurricane coming our way. I really want fall.
Where is the house you are trying to sell/rent?
Pooler, GA.
Traditionally, the weather here in Oregon is good through September… but the whole year has been really weird weather, so I guess there’s no guarantees…
Since we are doing random weather reports from around the world it is 20-22 C here in the UK and sunny.
Sadly you are not the only one struggling to sell your house, my sister and her family have been trying to sell their home for over a year without success and are getting desperate. Good luck in renting yours out.
Weather report from Munich, Germany: Cloudy, 12-14 °C, no rain. Fall is well established here.
After 12 days of vacation in Croatia with day tempertures between 26 and 32 °C and night temperatures not below 20 °C its fricking cold here.
I want to go back. It was so beautiful and so wonderful warm and the sea 2 min away. *sigh* Have to work then I can go back next year. *sigh*
oh my friend has grey nailpolish too. It looks yuk on her – sort of like a corpse – looks great on my 13 yr old though…. stick to red?
Good to have you back, lady. x
We had a horrible time selling our first house, took it off the market in the fall and put it back on in the spring with a new agent– she sold it in the first week. I kid yu not. I don’t know if it’s still around, but we found her online through a recommendation site– it was free to us, but I think she paid to be on there. Crud. I’ll see if my husband remembers the name. It was for agents all over the US.
I love Pooh Bear.
It’s nasty here today. 97 plus humidity. Yuck, ick and bleh.
Sorry the house didn’t sell! Good luck with renting.
Also, how much shorter would this post be without the word “totally”? Love the usage! Heart you, Ilona!
Heh…I think Nurslings & I live in the same neck of the woods. Stuffy, not breathable nastyness today in NC.
Maybe you can entice the local GA fans, Advertise: FREE ARC (when available) of MAGIC SLAYS UPON RENTAL LEASE SIGNING ;d
I’m in NC, too. Hot as hades yesterday but cool when I went for a run (read ran, huffed, puffed, lungs-gave-up-all-together, limped home) this morn.
Don’t get fired! O_O
Fired? As if! At this point you could post your shopping list and I’d pay to read it. Motto…if Ilona wrote it I can’t go wrong:)
HA! Me, too!
i am having to defend critique dino from gus. he wants dino VERY badly.
What’s memory wire?
Friends have had much luck posting their rentals on Craig’s List. Good luck with that. So, here in lovely downtown Detroit it is moist and muggy and in the high 70′s but for some weird reason feels like fall.
This is a test to see if the website hates me or just Gordon’s posts
I think I might have this issue fixed
Re: nail polish, I know what you mean. I tried grape colour on my toes recently and they look like I have fungal nail infections.
I remember those Oregon days (I used to live in Lake Oswego). I remember being late June and standing outside wearing a ski jacket thinking that IT’S JUNE!! I loved the scenery but the weather was crazy. Now I live in Florida so in the summer I get humidity and hurricanes and in the winter I get the nice weather – no more ice storms!
Good luck renting the house. I know it is a pain long distance but at least the house will not be sitting there empty.
Green can be fun.
It not white, It not slick, It not cold. I love it. regardless of the fact the heat index is a 130.
When I tried gray nail polish I thought “I’ve never seen a toe that colour that didn’t have a tag on it”.
What they don’t say about the memory wire is that you’ll need jeweler’s glue and a bead tip to finish the bracelet as turned up coils on both ends tend to snag clothes.
My mom says the same thing about my nail polish. ^_^ No clue why that happens!
I second the fire mountain gems site for memory wire. Just make sure you have heavy duty wire cutters when you cut it. If you use your jewelers cutters, it’ll dull the hell out of them and near break your hands trying to cut through it. I bought a cutter in Michaels cheap that you use with the wire floral stuff and that works like a dream. Same if you want to close the end of the memory with a little loop and attach a charm, don’t use your jeweler pliers, use an industrial needle tip. I ‘borrowed’ one from my Dad (he’s a plumber) and that’s what I use.
