Hey. Ask us and Jocelynn Drake anything on Reddit.

I didn’t feel like setting up an account with Reddit, so here’s my question.
How do you plan your plots? long term.
Like in your magic series. I know you hadn’t originally planned on 8+ books.
What I’m asking is do you kind of let your story grow and change. Like your characters. Or do you have a solid written in stone plot and just fill in with character development?

You can read their answers without setting up an account. Also, they have answered this question before on their site. Check the archives. They have said that they do an outline, then toss ideas back and forth.

I’m so happy for how your AMA turned out! ) It was so interesting to follow (I also didn’t want to start a reddit account) Thanks for the insight into your earlier life, sounds a like it was a journey. I spent time in the military as well (Thank you Gordon, for your service) and had the opportunity to see other countries and cultures that are polar opposite of what I experienced growing up in the US, but most americans don’t and it’s not really real to them. It blew my hair back when I realized that some countries do live like it’s the early 1900s still.
My question is: your both going to relax for a few days right? I don’t want you guys to burn out, because I really love your work! )
I kinda feel sorry for Mrs. Drake, there weren’t that many questions for her. Did her PR people fall asleep and forget to tell her fans about the AMA?

One more question (sorry) wasn’t there a snippet about Rogan when he was in the military? Two people are watching him walk down a street and he unleashes his power and destroys everything worse than they thought he could? Where did it go? Or did I imagine it? LOL

I didn’t feel sorry for her. She got exposure to new fans. I’m going to check out her series. And I bet more of the Author Lord’s fans will too..

I tried to read her “Dark days” series but I didn’t like all the sex. If your in the mood for that it’s a good place to start! )

You could write an Aunt B POV starting from when she had to report to Curran that she lost Kate up to the point where you know what happened, just to make up for the trauma of reading you know what. LOL! 🙂

Enjoyed the questions and answers, always interested in how successful authors write. I don’t have the talent or desire but certainly appreciate others who do. I’ve noticed that humor is important to me, a tight story without lots of unnecessary description and ugliness is important too. I’ve dropped several authors that got out of my comfort zone after the first three or four books even though I had enjoyed them.
I have enjoyed all of your books and look forward to the snippets and blog postings every day. I don’t know how you keep the different
worlds straight but certainly appreciate your skill and imagination.
