BURN FOR ME is out. It’s too early to tell how it did, but we are thrilled that most of you like this book. We both really enjoyed writing it and we are delighted it found an audience. The reviews are very kind. Some people really didn’t like it, which oddly makes me happy too. If a book isn’t at least somewhat polarizing, it didn’t say anything of value.
We are also very happy that the majority of promotion is behind us. We really need to dig into Magic Shifts. We got derailed by promotion and a personal tragedy, which I pretty much inflicted on us. From now until December, it’s 2K a day or die.
We had a hilarious Halloween. Kid 2 dressed up as an enormous stuffed bear, sat outside, pretending to be a toy, and scared trick or treaters. When they reached for candy, she’d yell “Happy Halloween!” It went somewhat like this.
A group of three teenagers, Freddy, zombie, and a Grim Reaper strutting down the street.
Kid 2’s boyfriend, quietly: Get ready.
Grim Reaper: Oh yeah, oh yeah, this is my gangsta walk.
Me: Go ahead and grab some candy.
Grim Reaper, reaching into the bowl.
Kid 2: HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Me, watching Grim Reaper pick up his robe and run down the street, fleeing for his life: Teenagers used to be made of sterner stuff.
3-year old fairy princess with glowing green wings, reaching for candy…
Kid 2, quieter, because we didn’t want to terrify the toddlers: Happy Halloween!
Fairy princess: It’s a bear! What’s his name? Here, bear, have some candy.
We have a very dark video. It plays best on Chrome for some reason.
It was very nice to see her having a good time. At first she had cancelled all of her Halloween plans, so Gordon and I were very relieved.
In other news, we are considering adopting a dog from the shelter. We need a small-sized adult, good with cats, good with dogs, good with older children, someone who had all of its vaccinations and who is ready to be a spoiled lap dog. We are currently looking at some rescue groups in Central Texas, around Austin. This will likely be a long search for us.
Well, and that’s about it. I am going to dig into Magic Shifts. Have a happy Saturday. 🙂
