Title: COLE, Kresley
Post by: MinnChica on February 08, 2010, 11:25:43 pm
I'm soo excited for Pleasure of a Dark Prince!! It comes out next Tuesday. A week exactly. It seems likes its been forever since Garreth and Lucia have been mentioned.

Kresley is also doing a contest. Provide a "Nixism" and the winner will be quoted in her next book!! http://kbgbabbles.blogspot.com/2010/02/exclusive-kresley-coles-first-annual.html (http://kbgbabbles.blogspot.com/2010/02/exclusive-kresley-coles-first-annual.html)    ;D

A dangerous demon she can't resist

Malkom Slaine: tormented by his sordid past and racked by vampiric hungers, he's pushed to the brink by the green-eyed beauty under his guard.
A maddening witch he aches to claim
Carrow Graie: hiding her own sorrows, she lives only for the next party or prank. Until she meets a tortured warrior worth saving.
Trapped together in a savage prison
For them to survive, Malkom must unleash both the demon and vampire inside him. When he becomes the nightmare his own people feared, will he lose the woman he craves body and soul?

I really enjoy this series. I loved Garreth, but I didn't like the 100 page re-cap in the book.  I hate when authors do that  >:(

Finished Demon from the Dark last night (yes I went straight home and started reading, and then couldn't put it down!!) I think that Malkom and Carrow have officially replaced Bowen & Mari as my favorite IAD characters.

They were so great together, and had such incredible chemistry.  <32 LOVED IT!!  <32

I guess that depends on what you're not liking?  Did you like the first book?  I'll admit #2 wasn't my favorite, but I still enjoyed it.

Wait, Hunger Like No Other is the first book...I really liked that one, but the begining can be a bit rough

The one thing about Kresley is that each book is a little different. I like some stories much better than others. I would keep reading, and to be honest, you could actually read the books out of order if you really wanted to skip one. You might miss some little things but I don't feel that you HAVE to read them in order to enjoy each book.

For example, I personally didn't like Bowen very much at the start of his book, he was a very broken man in a lot of ways. But by the end of the book he had grown and changed. I think that Kresley does that a lot actually. She presents characters that have issues or  have suffered loss, and her men have usually suffered something terrible in their past that has made them difficult to deal with. But when the two meet they inspire each other to heal and to want to be a better version of themselves.

Love is very much about two people supporting each other and inspiring each other to be a better person, two people in love can overcome obstacles that alone they never could have attempted. I think she demonstates this very well throughout her books.

I fell into the series with No Rest For The Wicked. I didn't like Bowen's story all that well either, but I like most of the others :)

Warlord is a novella, not a full length book, so it's all in how you count it.  ;)  The novella is the first story in the series, but I count the other as the first "book".  Probably because it's the first one I read.   RoFl

*cry* I LOVED Bowen's story. I thought Mariketa was awesome, and I love that Bowen was so tortured.

But I agree, each of her books are different enough. That is why I love them so much!!

Hello!  New here.  Like Minn said the cool thing about her series is that each book is different.  My favorite is Bowen & Mariketa.  I liked Sabine while many couldn't stand her. Every one has their favorites.  It depends on what a hero/heroine is to you.  KC may not even be for you.  I hit Amazon, read reviews, then try the author at the library.  There are popular authors that haven't worked for me but work for others.  Anyway, I just thought I'd put my two cents in.

Carrow and Malkolm were good!  Next up is Regin & Declan aka "Aiden the Berserker."  I'm not sure who the third is in this trilogy.  Maybe Lothaire?  On her forum some hope it's Lanthe and Thronos buuuuuuut KC has said she was writing a novella for that couple.  Unless she changed her mind, which I can deal with since I've been hooked on Lanthe since Sabine's story.

My favorite is Bowen & Mariketa.   bOOk

*sigh* They were my fav until Malkom and Carrow came along. But oh man... Bowen has got to be my favorite werewolf of all time. *sigh* He is so sexy!

Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night is my absolute favorite!  Glad to have found a fellow Bowen fan.  Mariketa was spunky and had some good comebacks.  Another fave is A Hunger Like No Other, which seems to receive mixed responses.

Kresley Cole was the first paranormal author I read.  I've tried many others and have come to love Nalini Singh, J.R. Ward, Jeaniene Frost, Patricia Briggs (Fantasy), and some more erotic authors like Lora Leigh, Shelly Laurenston/G.A. Aiken and then some.  I've been branching out to urban fantasy and am always on the lookout for book recommendations.   ;)

I don't want to get too off-topic ( don't hit me mods!), but I always recommend Karen Chance to everyone I can. She ranks up there with Ilona and Gordon. I love her books and her characters. You should check her out if you get a chance, there is a topic for her under the other authors.  ;)

I just finished reading Demon From the Dark today so I'm all up to speed on the IAD series.  Malkom's backstory was so sad. *sniffle*.  I'm glad the way things turned out for him and Carrow.  Next up... Regin and her berserker... wheee!  Feb. 15th seems so far away.  I can't wait for the book about Melanthe/Thronos and then also Lothaire (Mr. Eerily Sinister Hotness).  noDDing

I  <32 Malkom.  He's like a big sexy teddybear.  Looks like a monster, and his actions don't always come off the way he intended, but he has a good heart.

For anyone who is interested, here is the link for the excerpt from Dreams of a Dark Warrior:

Regin and Declan are also briefly featured in Demon from the Dark.

Wasn't really too interested Regin's story due to too much Lanthe & Thronos on the brain BUT after having reading the excerpt  jumP   . Yah, I'm excited.

I'm also looking forward to Lykae twin's story.  Uilleam, I think.  Lothaire's story aught to be interesting too.

I found on Kresley's forum that she confirmed Lothaire's book will be published in January of 2012. She also confirmed there may be a possibility for one more book between Dreams of a Dark Warrior and Lothair, but we wont know for sure.

Krelsey also announced on Facebook that she is working on a new paranormal YA series.

Thanks for the info MinnChica.

And Kirsten,  I think Lothaire and Nix would make a very interesting couple.  I asked on KC's forum about it but one poster stated that KC has stated Nix's story would be toward the end of the series.  You never know, things can change.

About Lothaire, I keep thinking he could have the gift of foresight similar to Nix but without the chaotic thinking.  [He just seems to know things, ask specific favors, and be at the right place and the right time.  Or maybe it's just some master plan and he has insight into something the immortals are unaware of.

I guess fangs could be sexy, why didn't I see this coming?  Coming. Finished it and loved it. I feel like Declan did not get off too easy I feel like he was torturing himself and that was kind of enough plus Regin well it was about time she has something of her own you know? I always felt bad for her so I guess I just wanted her to be happy.

If you want more info on the IAD series you might want to check out
http://pocketafterdark.com/_Kresley-Cole-Reader-FAQs/blog/3315573/159176.html

Kresley Cole answers some questions posed to her by Facebook fans.

I think it's safe saying that Nix will not be Lothaire's bride.  KC quote from Pocket After Dark Q & A
Alice, Brenna, Carrie, Cynthia, Gabi, Hailey, Jessica, Melissa, Lori, Michaela, Narissa, Paula, Wendy and Yudenia want to know if a book about Nïx is coming. I’m getting the feeling that some of you . . . enjoy the character of Nïx? :) The Ever Knowing One will absolutely get her own book, but she still has a lot of work to do for the Accession, so it’ll come later in the series. She gets lots of screen time in Dreams of a Dark Warrior though!

Is it just me or has the writing in Kresley Cole's IAD series evolved?  I'm not very good at expressing myself when it comes to examining books but the latest books feel different.  I've enjoyed all but one short story that fell flat with me.  The latest books have more action and something else.  I don't know.  Maybe it's just me.

I wonder what Nix's book will be like.  Lothaire's aught to be very dark.

Lothaire's aught to be very dark.

nanners.. it's not just you. I feel the same too.
I like book 7 and I love book 10 and 11 the best.
I just recommended this series to my sister in law just because I really love book 10 and 11.. *lol*

The cover (what I am assuming is the final cover) for Lothaire's book is up:

http://kresleycole.com/books/lothaire.html

The release date is 1/10/12.

Blurb:
From the humblest of beginnings a millennia ago, Lothaire the Enemy of Old rose to power, becoming the most feared and evil vampire in the immortal world. Driven by his past, he will not rest until he captures the vampire Horde’s crown for himself. The discovery of his Bride, the female meant only for him, threatens to derail his plot.

Elizabeth Peirce is a mere mortal, a glaring vulnerability for a male with so many blood foes bent on annihilating anything he desires. Yet soon he discovers his Bride’s secret. A magnificent power dwells inside the fragile human, one that will aid his quest. But to possess that power, he will have to destroy her. Will Lothaire succumb to the torments of his past, or seize a future with her?

I seem to recall reading that Lothaires eye weren't red like a vamp who *enjoyed* killing... Of course if he was pictured with less than red eyes we might think he's a pansy RoFl

He might be able to pull it off if he were shirtless, looking all menancing and buff.  noDDing

Lothaire was pretty great huh?

@Kikucat - Kresley is working on a series next that will feature the Draci vampires. So expect to see even more of Lothaire and Ellie in the upcoming series.  ParTy

I LOVE Nix, especially after getting to see a little more of her in Lothaire. I can't wait until she finally gets a book of her own!!

I don't know. She tends to be very tight lipped about Nix. I think some people tried asking during the Q&A's she did on the Lothaire book tour, but I don't actually recall her saying anything revealing. At least in the recaps I read. :)
