ATA: Kate's Mom (not her name)

I know we don't know Kate's Mom's name -- because it hasn't presented itself yet -- but
can you tell us anything specifically about her.

I'm wondering what kind of magic and/or special skills she possessed? She must have been
unusual to catch Roland's interest.

Also, what qualities/powers does Kate get from her Mom?

I hope this question isn't too obsessive but my friend who introduced me to Kate and used to let
me spend untold time wondering and obsessing about the mysteries of Kate's world passed away this
summer. You guys are my only Kate life-line now.
