I recommend the MI series and highly enjoyed the characters and the story line.  Funny, I never thought to compare it to Harry Potter and I think it is a great alternative to the twilight series.

I think the story is unique in their own sense..
I have to admit, at first.. I was kinda confused with the first few pages.. but once I get the whole picture..
I love the story!

I'm also looking forward for "Clockwork Angel".. I hope it's as good as Mortal Instrument series..  ;D

I agree with Alias.  It never occurred to me to compare Mortal Instruments with Harry Potter.  Now Percy Jackson does compare with Harry Potter, but that is another thing.  It seems to me that Mortal Instruments is primarily about human relationships - Jace and Clary, Valentine and his children, Alec and Jace, Simon and Clary, etc.  Rowling is a lot more about power and politics, and of course, schooling.

Clare also moves her story along much faster than JK Rowling.  (which is generally a good thing.)

Clockwork Angel is up at Audible.:D

I've just started this series. I had wondered if this is the same Cassie Claire who used to write fanfic? She wrote the awesome Secret Diaries of Pervy Hobbit Fanciers. YUP! Clearly it's the same person. I just started City of Bones and there have been 2 direct references. "Still the King" and I forget the other.

I also heard that she has extended the MI series not to just Simon's story due next year, but to 2 more additional books as well.  This should be interesting!

Grrr, I just finished reading Clockwork Angel & all I can say is
"Will...you dickhead" I was flabbergasted that he'd treated Tess the way he did at the end of the book. Too bad Tess didn't smack him one...I wanted to reach into the book & smack him upside the head for her eviL
So is it worth listening/reading? I had a friend who grabbed the audio {I was waiting for a credit} and she didn't like it at all so I didn't get it.

It's a good book,Vin. I just hated what the "hero" said to the heroine at the end. Maybe he was trying to drive her away? What was said would have guaranteed it...

It was a good read but not a must read, in my opinion.
Can you loan it?

It would be cool if audible did do a loaning thing but I don't see it. Their files work differently than ebook files.
