I would have liked to have seen Ponyo but none of the theatres around here.

District 9 was very good but I was getting a headache because of how the camera was shaking all over the place for the action scenes.   :-\  They don't need to do that to follow all the action, I can do it myself.

Well I'm kind of intrigued by the advertisements on youtube for that new film Avatar...
Anyone seen them?

It looks pretty awesome but i've bin wrong before..
I'm mostly attracted to it because of the special effects and the graphics look incredible!

I've seen the cartoon that it's based on.  I know a lot of the die hard fans aren't happy with how the casting had went but I'd go see it and see how M. Night did on it.

I am totally looking forward to Avatar.

Not only on its own merits; also because it ISN'T Pokemon. This is crucial, around here.

I just tried to find the youtube video. And came up with two films: AVATAR and the other was The Last Airbender. Kind of confusing. But I know the comic, so I was able to find out which one you were talking about...
I really like watching the cartoon (when I'm able to watch it). And yes, it's NOT Pokemon. Or Digimon, or...  Roll Eyes

Seriously. I HOMESCHOOL for pity's sake and we don't have cable, just dvds. We're Netflix Amish.

And they STILL somehow managed to find Pokemon, managed to get some old VHS from an overly indulgent grandfather, and now they all sit around and talk about Pokemon, or they have Pokemon sword fights, or they spend time memorizing Pokemon names....

It just goes to show, children are geniuses at whatever they consider importnat. Which means they COULD memorize scriptures, if they so chose, or if I could find the right leverage, but they choose instead to expend their amazing neural energies and potentials on third-rate anime.

For all that it was alarming how fast they got sucked into the Final Fantasy world after my DH let them watch FF7:Advent Children....at least that's a higher-caliber addiction.

Argh the dreaded Pokemon. My daughter was obsessed with it when she was younger. It's funny you should mention FF, my daughter just hired that out a couple of days ago, she has watched it quite a few times!

It is pretty addictive.

Anyway, so, I'm hoping to transfer my kids' fascination from Pokemon to Avatar, a la going from heroin to methadone. Avatar is more worthy of their devotion and gentler on the little kids than Firefly.

The cartoon is very good.  I have to catch up.  I watched up to mid-second season and then for some reason the time was changed and I kept forgetting it.
