I loved how he did Howl's Moving Castle.  :)

I first saw it at GenCon before it was released.  I have to say that as much as I like christian Bale, it sounds better in Japanese.

Anyone going to see 9 when it comes out?

Well, I loved the visuals on Howl's Moving Castle, but the anime cut half the plot out and rearranged the other half until it made no sense.  The movie eliminated a third of the cast, switched the bad guy from one character to another, changed the entire nature and effects of the curse, and pulled the anti-war message out of nowhere.  I just watch HMC for the prettiness of Howl and the hilarity of Calcifer.

I plan on seeing 9 when it's out.  I'll prolly take the little ones with me and make a night out of it.

True, Sylvia.

But I was just so happy for something from Miyazaki AND Diana Wynne Jones...two of my favorite artists...that I was deliberately easy-to-please.

Because the alternative was Disney, that's why. Slightly disappointing Miyazaki is still better than some of Disney's best, IMAO.

About Avatar - are you all talking about the last airbender? Then I also watched the cartoons and loved them  :D
I am very curious to see how they'll manage with actors.

@ Readsalot81: I have watched 3 of the films you mentioned ;) : My big fat greek wedding, The Matchmaker & Love Actually
Of the last film, I especially liked the light-doubles  ;D

Another film I like is The Gamers. It's a really funny, ironic film about RPG :)

I couldn't decide if I wanted to see Dorian Grey or not but if you say it's good I'll have to give it a shot.

Saw all the comments at the start about HP6 and have to say whilst I did quite like the film I did come away ranting about things they'd missed and 'new' scenes like the one with the burrow.
Also I want to know how they will start film 7 because it should be the wedding but they haven't mentioned Bill and Fleur getting together in any of the films?!
My favourite films of all time have to be - Ghostbusters 1&2, Sweet Home Alabama and every Will Smith film (except I Am Legend - I do NOT do zombie films!!!)

This is so true!  Also is the issue of translating book to film.  Sometimes you just have to separate them and and allow each media to entertain one on it's own merit!   paW

My dad stopped by Uwajimaya's in Portland and picked up a picture book of Ponyo which all my kids are devouring. I am really looking forward to the release.

Husband and I finally saw HP6 Friday night. I loved that initial Barrow scene. I think I might prefer movie to the book--a more liveable level of snogging.

I can't. I get emotionally exhausted by that. Just wiped out. I can't even (lowers voice to a whisper) watch the whole LotR. I don't even watch it in segments anymore. I only watch it with the commentary or, even better, all the "Making Of Middle Earth" stuff with WETA and stunts and whatnot.

It's dumb, but I can barely handle any movies or TV shows any more. Like an acquired autism.
