Bwahhh, I tried to read Codex Alera slowly but it's all over now. Whatever I read next is going to be bad or average compares to this. Sad
I'm very sad about Crassus.  Huh?

Ying - really happy to hear you have enjoyed this - it's my upcoming vacation read!  I'll be able to comment later.

Now you need to start on Harry Dresdon - you should love it!!

Blue, you will love it! I won't say no more until you read it. A word of warning, people will call you a hermit once you start. It will totally suck you in. I'm gonna read Dresden soon. Just need to catch my breath, I was really into Codex Alera and need something lighter before I dive into another intense series.

Ying~ Dresdan starts out, not exactly lighter but certainly more accessible than Alera. I think Jim liked when someone referred to it as Dirty Harry/Potter. It's a wild ride but at least early on, an easy read. You'll LOVE it. Lots of snark and sarcasm. Each book builds with both world building and in Harry's skills and his friend-made-family-backups. If you can get hold of the Audios, Marsters really brings another element to the table as well. He really performs each character.

Thanks Vinity. I've got them all on ebooks, my bf is a big fan. I'll get one or two on audio just because you guys always talk about how good James is. Smiley

Blu ~ didn't realize you hadn't read or listened to Alera yet!  The audiobooks are great IMHO!  I really enjoy Kate Reading.

I confess to not having listened to Alera. I have them all in book form. I confess to not having read the last one EEK I need to go back and re-read to refresh myself before I read the last one. Anyway, I've stayed away from Alera audio cause a friend who usually has similar taste HATED Reading and warned me off when  she first started doing them.

Reading's reading reminded me a bit of Davina Porter.  I get you a couple of samples if you want to see if you'd like her reading Vin.
