Hat post

The hat was knitted with Patons Angora Bamboo Yarn worsted weight (4) and size 1 circular needle.  No pattern – I cast on 128, and knitted in K2 P2 until it measure approximately 5 1/2 inch.  Then I decreased gradually for eight rows.  The top seam was done with a crochet hook.

The ears were done with crochet hook as well (I wanted them stiff.)  I laid the hat flat and picked up stitches on the column just behind what would’ve been the side seam and crocheted a black triangle.  I made sure to leave a long, almost 18 inch tail.  The I picked up an equal number of stitches just in front of what would’ve been the side seam and made a grey triangle.  Again, left a long tail.  Next I single crocheted the two triangles together, stuffing the yarn ends in.  Rinse and repeat for the other ear.

As you can see, Kid 1 likes it.  :)

Next on the list is a pair of socks in this cute yarn Gordon said looks like sorbet.  Hopefully I won’t mess them up.

Socks are excellent. Especially those really soft, long ones they seem to sell more at holidays? (almost like slippers, very soft and comfy)

That hat is super cute. I’d totally pay for it if I saw it in the
mall or a dept store. Then I’d wear it all winter long. Very well done!

wow loving the hat! Im trying to learn to knitt and started with baby booties by copying youtube videos. that worked ok but then looked up circular needles and got very confused as ive never seen them before and they are odd looking. im determined to knitt hats and socks as they are my favourite spend and if i work it out it’ll be a great money saver – your kitten hat inspires me to keep trying!
