This is so bad. Thanks to Mud for the morning groan.
In knitting news, I gave up on the previous shawl, because I mostly knit at night and the lace part of the pattern required too much close attention and was interfering with my watching of Great British Bake Off. I started a new shawl, Quicksilver. It’s a super easy pattern and contrary to the picture, my stitches are actually pretty even. (Not sure what happened there.) I also like the diagonal effect of the stripes. So everything was hunkydory, except guess what? I realized last night that white, blue and gold is not a winning combination.
Me: Is this ugly?
Gordon: Long pause of a man who is about to storm the bridge of a castle all by himself. Yes.
Confirmation obtained, I proceed to mope about. Kid 1 asked me what was wrong, and I explained that my writing didn’t go well yesterday, my painting didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to the previous day, we had to pay a bunch of money to bring the attic to code, and now my shawl is ugly, which meant that there was a land of suck and I was qualified to be its reigning monarch.
Kid 1 promptly ran into the living room to examine the shawl.
Kid 1: Mom, that’s beautiful.
Kid 1: It’s super retro. Perfect seventies.
Me: stricken mute with horror.
Kid 1: I love it.
To finish or not to finish? That is the question.
