Ehh Bleargh… Brains…

Ehh Bleargh... Brains...

I feel like the walking dead today.  Woke up, exhausted, dragged myself downstairs.  Everything went wrong.

The little dog ate her puppy mat, peed in her play pen, and then rolled in it, so she had to be washed.  (At least my point about crating her overnight anyway has been proven.) The kitchen was messy because we were all too tired last night, so I kept trying to cook and clean it.  Messed up my berry syrup.  Messed up my pancakes.  They looked like I made them while I had seizures – all weirdly shaped.

I am so tired.  I think I’ve finally crashed.

A small funny

Gordon: What do you even know about Little House on the Prairie?

Kid 2: We totally know about it.

Kid 1: Grandma watches it all the time with that cop show.

(Grandma is a very strict no-magic, no-violence, no-sex  Christian. – Ilona)

Gordon: What cop show?

Kid 1: The black and white one.

Me: What are you talking about?

Kid 2: The black and white cop show.  With whistling.

My eyes are actually closing. I am out.

  1. That cop show! Awesome! Hope your day is restful.

  2. gingko-girl says:

Oh my gosh! I must be old because I knew what cop show she was talking about! Hope you get some sleep and some words today!

  3. My grandma watches “that cop show,” too, so I totally figured it out from the description. Kid 1 and 2 were pretty accurate in describing it. :)

Maybe you can play some more Skyrim for a break. Dustin said he killed a dragon last night/early this morning. I’m higher level than him, and still haven’t. I’ve been too busy wandering through the woods, getting killed by giant spiders.

Also, destruction magic is way too powerful. Sword + shield = death. Sword + Flames = WIN. I’m turning half mage just so I can fire things to death. My poor Nord warrior is so confused.

    • Amanda_Jean says:

Are you using the Smithing skill? It really helps to improve your weapons, especially early on. The smith in the first village Riverwood takes you through how to use it if you catch him outside by his forge. :)

Enchanting is also a good thing to learn, so that you can add various enchantments to your weapons and armour.

      • Yeah, I’ve leveled up so much because it’s easy to level up smithing early on. I’m still having much suckage when using a sword and shield, though. It’s sad, because a melee character is my first choice. Fire shooting from my hand seems like cheating. :)

        • Sword right hand, restoration left hand. Whack and heal and whack and heal.

          • Funny, because the consensus on Gfaqs seems to be how weak Destruction is. Personally I started with it and then switched to bashing face with two axes.

            • Amanda Jean says:

wierd, I’m really enjoying destruction with my Dunmer mage at the moment – I generally manage to one shot most things with duel wield fireball/lightening shot spells – she is only level 8 at the moment though (playing on Adept difficulty), so maybe it gets alot harder later on.

I am swapping between her and an evil Altmer Archer Assassin for a bit of variety though – it’s fun to see how things change between the two story/quest wise. :D

              • I stuck with it until level 12 or so but I felt it dropped off dramatically thereafter. That could be because I had a hybrid character though, I think people who go with robes and magic-centric do fine.

          • Yeah, I tried that. It worked like this: heal, heal, heal, I SAID HEAL DAMN YOU! And then I got ran through in a quite dramatic fashion. Multiple times. After that, I equipped fire to go with my sword. Fear me, bandits, for I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger (and fire). :)

  4. Haha my pancakes always look seizure shaped! Have a better afternoon and keep the dog outside for a while, it might lower your blood pressure. :)

  5. No magic, no violence, no sex? She must love your books!

My puppy ate the mat the was IN his crate–he eats anything, except ironically, his food.

  6. I trained both of my little ones on puppy pads since I cannot get home until the end of the work day (8hrs) which can be hard on those little bladders. I found that using the re-usable pads is cleaner, safer and more cost effective.

I have invested in several of them now and can rotate them when needed easliy and they just get put thru the hot cycle on the washer when they need to be cleaned.

I put a large one down in their pen during the day and over-nite and they go to it no problem. Liquid is absorbed and solids just need to be picked up and thrown away or flushed (tootsie rolls to go as my daughters say). Unless they decide to lay on the wet pad, hasnt happened yet, no baths are needed.

They also cant shred it which can be very dangerous if they swallow the plastic lining. It can block their intestines in just a few hours and cause a vet trip for emergency surgery to unblock.

maybe these could help you too..

  7. Ha! I guessed the cop show from the whistling. Good luck with the puppy. I always maintain that puppies are harder than babies but not for as long. And neither one of my babies ever ate my best shoes.

  8. pklagrange and Moose (AP) says:

OMG so funny – never guessed it. That cop show in black & white was always “Dragnet!” Good luck with the puppy. That’s why puppies and kittens are so cute – so we don’t kill them when they are so evil! LOL

  9. That’s too funny! I watched that show too, but I didn’t get it from the description — even though the description is perfect. I never really thought of it as a cop show. But then again, when I hear “cop show” I think Miami Vice, Cops, Reno 911, etc. Hope you get some rest today!

  10. As soon as u said whistling i knew it was Mayberry. Gob bless andy and don knox. Hey i dont know if yall ever visited the Biltmore mansion but there is an awesome movie called Private Eyes that stars don knox. Its a child friendly murder mystery from late 70′s early 80′s. Grandma would love it and so might your kids.

  11. Hope you get some sleep.

I haven’t seen that “cop show with whistling” in forever. I’ve tried showing the kiddos some of the classic tv shows I used to watch. So far they mostly just like Scooby Doo and Inspector Gadget (but then they are still pretty young).

  12. Hey at least it’s not K1 and K2 peeing on things! There is a silver lining…

I’m trying to knit balls. Yes, I know the jokes. I make them everytime I take out my projects. I answer calls from my husband by saying “Hello, Ball-maker here” no one laughs but me. Anyway, it’s bad to make balls when tired. Because if you mess up your balls you have to go back and HOOK your balls. I am not good with the hook so I make the problem worse. My “Fair Isle” balls look like the cat coughed them up. But at least they are round. And that’s what I get for trying to knit at 12am.

  13. Ah- cop show memories….

  14. ROFL.

  15. If the pancakes taste good, who cares if they’re weirdly shaped? Mine always come out weirdly shaped anyway…

  16. BAHAHAHAHA Should of known it was that show. Well, look at it this way. My dad would put on shows like Special Victims Unit when we were over and I’d have to go into the kitchen with my preteen kid and sit with her so she wasn’t fricking traumatized. I brought it up at one point and he denied doing it. Sigh. Parents– can’t live with them; can’t kill them… something like that. *snort*

I’m tired too. Hope you energized after writing this:)

    • My parents do that all the time and my 5 year old and I live with them. He always tells them I don’t like CSI change it if he walks into the room and its on. I think that sometimes they just don’t realize it or think about it from our perspective because they don’t have to worry about it.

  17. Just take some rest for your brain.
Enjoy life as you would like it at the moment you need it.

  18. Ah, yes. I knew it was the Andy Griffith show. Being a NC-er and old I grew up with that show. Honestly, it’s quite good.

  19. If you were down here in SA, I would give you fresh chocolate chip cookies.

  20. My grandma still watched that one… that whistling is forever ingrained in my brain.

I love that cop show. I remember watching when I was a kid, when everything was black and white.
    Wait, does that age me?
Let me try that again. I remember watching when with my grandkids. No, no, I remember watching with my kids. Yeah, that’s it, with my kids. Okay, let’s just leave it at I love that show.

  22. I adore your random, random updates. That is all. :)

  23. I would love some homemade pancakes, misshapen or not. Get some rest, then get lost in the simpler time of Walnut Grove (before we found out Nellie Olsen was a lesbian ;P)

Too funny about the cop show! That song’s gonna be in my head all night tonite. . .

    Hope you sleep well. :0)

  27. Darn it! Now I’ve got that theme song stuck in my head!

  28. just bought skyrim on amazon tonight – can’t wait!

  29. If the Waltons were included it would be perfect TV watching… :)

At least pancakes taste the same no matter the shape!

  30. It was always about the whistling.

Did you point out to them who the little boy was? Huh…maybe they wouldn’t know that…but they would know who his daughter is!

  31. Wow.
Grandma+Cops+Black&White+Whistling=Andy Griffith even for me. This may be because my Grandma was also no magic, no sex, no violence (yes, in that order.)
Therefore I used to sneak downstairs to watch Buffy. :D

That is so funny. I was thinking Law and Order or CSI not Andy Griffith. But only back and white I can tolerate is the Beverly Hillbillies….so funny

  33. There is an ice cream truck that had the theme music from the Andy Griffith show playing.

    Loudly.

It would echo for a couple blocks, even.

    :)

    • Yes, it’s a show that ran from 1960-1968 starring Andy Griffith (as the sheriff) and a very, very young Ron Howard (as his son Opie). That’s why you’ll hear Ron called Opie occasionally.

  36. Hehe…the whistling clued me into the name of the show… Gosh, I feel old now.

  37. My son started whistling the theme from the “Andy Griffith” show while speed walking in gym class. They were supposed to reach a certain heart rate, and he learned that whistling raised his. Soon he hears another kid join in, then another, and pretty soon, yup, the whole class is whistling and walking to Andy. The gym coach laughed so hard he fell off his chair. So don’t feel old Roxanne!
