Writing and fun and neutral topics

It looks like some snippets I posted have caused a minor train wreck among some fan peoples, who assumed that Kate or Curran are having someone else’s babies.  There are no babies related to Kate or Curran in Magic Rises.  Just thought I would out some fears to rest. But I like how everyone freaked out.  :P

I am having a really good time writing this book and so when I post a quote, it’s usually because I’m excited about something.  I realize that from outside it looks like this: peril, drama, horrible things!  But from the inside, I know how it ends, so it’s all Ooooh, peril and Oooh drama.  Shiny!

I try not to blog about family that much anymore.  Kids are getting older and their lives and their privacy issues come into play. They are still smart and hilarious, but they are establishing their own identities and circles of friends.

That leaves me with pets and writing, and a lot of writing related posts sound, well, a bit boring.  We’re not a very interesting lot, the writers, and most of the energy is going into the novel.  The blog gets what’s left over and there isn’t much there after 2,000 words a day. :D

Most of the writing work is internal, and when it is external, it usually devolves into complaining about something not working or gross things.  Like I had to research cat marking this morning.  Blergh.  For obvious reasons writing about things that do work isn’t super fun to read: I made this fight scene.  There was blood.  It was gory. Yay. Writing about things that do not work is equally not fun: woe is me, why do I suck so much?  Why can’t this fix itself?

One can only take so much of that.  So I’m going to be shutting down for a bit.  If you want to send some questions to be answered on the blog, please drop me an email with FAQ in the subject. You guys are usually great with coming up with topics. I might post a picture of a cute kitty or something I knitted.  Otherwise, we’re on official hiatus until we finish this novel.   That goes for Twitter and Facebook as well.  So email is the best way to get a hold of me or Gordon. :)  Please be warned that I will probably check email once a day only, so I may not get to all questions right away. Freedom for Mac is a wonderful thing.

We hope you have awesome holidays.  :)
