A while ago I stopped buying yarn. My reasoning was that I had enough yarn and that I had to make something out of said yarn before moving on to buying more yarn. And then I would never make anything out of said yarn, because I’d reason that I had to make something functional and if I did make something, the kids would just wash it wrong or lose it. As I’m trying to get my life into a better place, the one that’s not all work and obligation, I’ve realized that buying yarn makes me happy. It’s so pretty and colorful. It doesn’t matter if I ever make anything with it. 🙂
Curiously, once I made the executive decision to buy yarn for the fun of it, I’ve made a blanket and a sweater. Go figure.
With that in mind, I’ve discovered Shawl in a Ball. It’s very colorful and not super expensive. I saw it an I was all like, “Oooo, pretty colors…”
Supposedly, you can make a whole shawl out of a single ball, so I am trying my hand at it. One of Kid 2’s friends was very enamored with the sweater I made her, so she asked for a shawl or a scarf and I’m working on it now. This is Erigeneia pattern which can be found on Ravelry.
I’m excited about this. I think it will block much larger. It’s also crocheting up really fast, so I am thinking I might make a few different variations as Christmas gifts.
In other unrelated colorful news, we had a freaky sunset yesterday. It probably doesn’t come through in pictures, but the light outside was lavender. It was bizarre, but pretty.
Weird, isn’t it?
A yarn in those colors would be so pretty… Okay, I’ll stop now. 😛
