I got an email this morning. It said,
Thank you for posting the Samhain [Saiman] rescue. I really enjoyed reading it.
It made me so happy. I’m sitting here, with industrial flood fans going – it’s been over 36 hours now – and the noise is deafening. I probably will miss our deadline, because of all the stuff that’s going on and it’s making me miserable. We still don’t know who will pay for our kitchen.
But you know what, someone liked something we wrote. This morning I’m Batman.
I’m going to go work more.

nananana BATMAN!!!
Holy complications Batman, hope your kitchen gets better.
I feel for you. It’s so frustrating have your house tore up and trying to keep up your normal routine. It’s seems the older we get, the more we hate having our routines messed with. By the way I love the cover for the new Kate book and I really have been enjoying the Innkeeper Chronicles. Hang in there, things will get better!
In the Multiverse theory: Somewhere, in the quantam foam of existance, amongst the very building blocks of reality, there is a universe where you… are Batman.
I read all types of genres. I’ve spent the last 12 years dealing with chronic pain & the depression & anxiety that comes with it. Reading is my refuge. I have read all of your work, multiple times. You guys have an astounding ability for unique worldbuilding which to me is the key for excellence in writing. I enjoy looking up the myths/histories you incorporate into your Kate Daniel’s series. Reading about Mesopotamia or Jewish mysticism, to give a couple examples, puts me in touch with the intellectual curiosity and love of history and philosophy that has always shaped my craving for knowledge and learning. So I just wanted to thank you for creating the unique worlds of Kate Daniel’s & the Edge & Clean Sweep & Silent Blade. I look forward to your future endeavors xx. PS. I wrote a little comment about your kitchen in hopes to give you a good laugh. It talks about a literal shit storm that happened at our house years ago. Best wishes in dealing with absurdity xx
Michelle Sagara has a great statement in her cast series. I am paraphrasing but basically you don’t always get power/influence from the big players but instead is made up of getting it from all the small players. I think our happiness and recognition comes from all the people we influence as we go along and just don’t realize it.
I’m so glad a fan made you smile! I’m sure we can make you frustrated sometimes with our demands for more! more! more! You’ve written about it before.
I loved the Saiman story, too, and am just so grateful that we get more out of you guys than any other author I read. Thank you so much!
I hope that this makes someone giggle!
I love to read SF books, when my husband and I first starting dating I was just starting the Anita Blake books. Well, he picked up the book I was reading at the time and I happened to be in the middle of one of the love scenes, ever since then he refers to any book that I read as “Vampire Porn” no matter how many times I tell him otherwise! Can you imagine using that description with some of the vampires in your books? o_0…Happy Friday!
PS – I am really enjoying the Innkeeper story and always look foward to it and anything else that you post – story or otherwise.
I just wanted to tell you… I LOVE YOUR CAPE BATMAN!
That is all.
Maybe sometimes the message gets lost in all the noise of life, but you are very appreciated by many, many readers and should be reminded daily of how important your work is to those who love it.
YOU ROCK!!!
What they said!, ^^^^^^^^

Your stuff is so fun! Have a great day, Batman! I’m re-reading Gunmetal Magic and laughing at one of Raphael’s hissy fits!
You should go to Starbucks or someplace that’s quiet where you can write in peace.
Batman ROCKS!
Hahahaha You have fantastic fans
It’s great to be complimented, but it’s even better when it’s timely. You’re boost from such a timely compliment makes me smile. I feel like URKEL!
Ah, the power of one compliment on a really bad day. I’m in the middle of grad school in all its confidence boosting glory. When my professor says, “Not bad,” I feel like I’m on top of the world.
I always think you’re batman.

Our fans are nice 99% of the time. We are very lucky.
So glad to read you had a lift from a fan. Now you know what you do for us.
I don’t understand how people can be mean to you. You give your fans tons of free stuff. It’s amazing.
I like everything you write. THERE! You should feel like all of the Superfriends. O_o
I don’t say thank you enough. Thank you for your work. Thank you for the words you give away free and thank you for the words in electronic, paper and audio that I buy. Deadlines, hmm. I know you are doing the best and going as fast as you can.
: )
Interesting how they spelled his name Samhain. Hmmmm…
You are totally Batman. Thank you so much for posting an installment of Innkeeper even when kitchen is being torn apart and you’re working on edits and your life must be so stressful. I’m filled with awe at everything you manage to juggle. Thank you for all the free stuff and the blog posts and the funny tweets, and taking time to answer questions from fans on the blog.
Also, I know you closed the comments for the new cover because of mean people, but I just wanted to say that I really like it. Of all the paranormal/urban fantasy I read, I love your books the most. Every new installment of Innkeeper makes me grin like a loon. Please don’t let negative comments get you down, there are so many people who are grateful to you and love all your work.

Well said!
Glad you got a comment that made your day — it’s makes all the difference. Your books are fantastic and I recommend them all the time to library patrons. I like to think I hook a new soul on your books every day!
Good luck with everything!
So, the obvious follow-up, is Gordon “Robin”, or is he “Alfred” ?
Gordon is Oliver Queen.
Had to look him up. The Green Arrow…cool! Andrea must have inherited her skill from Gordon.
I don’t post often because most others already express my sentiments. But I want you to know that you guys are the only authors I stalk on a daily basis & I buy your books without thinking about waiting for a deal. I buy anthologies just to get your one story. I’m waiting for my daughter to grow old enough so I can give her your books to read. I love all the book covers I’ve seen and I wish Innkeeper had a new installment each day–I would gladly pay a subscription for it. Your writing is the gold standard to which I compare other books, and so many fall short. Thank you for bringing your creations to us and working hard to give readers so many hours of enjoyment.
What she said!!!!!
I am tickled because mine is now old enough to read the books and she has become as big a fan as I feel I am as well. Sometimes when the world gets all complicated and frustrating we forget how there are others out there who want only the best for you. So for you and Gordon, we are rooting for you. It is hard and it sucks but you can do this, heck you have plenty of cheerleaders rah rahing for you now.
Oh and the new cover is wonderful, Sarah drooled when I showed it to her.
PS
The computer was down for a week and as soon as it came up she checked on your website. My kid has it bad!
You deserve those compliments! Your fans love you guys! I know, I’m one of them

OMG!!!! I just watched a bunch of HISHE (How It Should Have Ended) cafe scenes with Batman and Superman off Youtube, then came here and read this… Absolutely PERFECT!!!
You’re the only authors whose blog I check regularly, and not just for the snippets. I appreciate the generous insights you share about your writing process, and professional issues, and you make even your venting and fits of rage entertaining to read. I guess it’s a good thing you have a creative outlet, or there might somehow be cyclones of metal blades whirling around the Austin Home Depot. : ) I hope your situation is resolved soon, and your kitchen returned to normal. Thanks for the little peeks into your story worlds. You guys are awesome.
I like everything you write, including all blog posts. You guys are my favorite authors, and you are the most generous. No other author I read posts as many excerpts, deleted scenes, extra POVs (thank you Gordon!), or free stories as you guys do. I have only ever commented in order to enter in the giveaway contests, but it felt like a good time to voice my appreciation. So thanks for being awesome!
LOVE the snippet with Saiman… Question – can anyone address the question – in Magic Bites, Curran is the one that brings up Crest as a possible Upear (I listen more than read, so spelling. . .) but when they discover they are WRONG —- KATE, not Curran, gets the blame?!?! What is up with THAT??
I am listening for the 6th or so time to all the Kate books – getting ready for “Magic Rises” . . . can hardly wait to listen to that one!!!!!
I agree with the “you’re the only author I stalk” comment. Google Reader has figured out that I want to see what you post, when you post it, RIGHT NOW!
I still giggle when I think about the “stealth vampires”.
I know you’re not keen on asking for help, but have you considered putting the Samhain up as an ebook? Or even the first parts of Clean Sweep? It could be your “pay for the kitchen” thing. I’d buy it…. I bet others would too.
Umm can you be Batgirl instead Batman’s an ass…… I hate him with a passion you remind me more of Barbara Gordon smart and strong. Good luck with the kitchen
I just went onto the website for Patricia Briggs and found a sample chapter for Frost Burned. Guess where it was set? I will give you a hint, ok ill just tell you. The parking lot of Home Depot on Black Friday. Thought it was interesting, because I had come to the site from this one.
This made me SOOOO happy! Hate it was deleted – I would have loved to have Curran find out about it. (evil grin) Maybe it can be an e-book, then Curran can find out and finally make Saiman wish he wasn’t such a twit! LOL.
I LOVE you guys, you know that, right? We alllllll love you. If my chemo hadn’t have taken all my money, I would jump on a plane and fly to your house and fix your floors myself – no charge! Just for all the pleasure you bring me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I know those industrial fans, they are the suck. My sister’s toilet (on the 2nd floor) leaked while she was out of town, All the water somehow ran down through the surrounds on the 1st floor recessed lighting, then all over the first floor. Ruined the ceiling, carpet, drywall, bathroom floor etc. She had the fans going on for days. Wow they are LOUD! She also got to battle the insurance company (of course). I am in awe of the fact you can listen to that and still write us lovely Clean Sweep episodes and edit Magic Rises. You rock and your cape flaps majestically in the wind.
