  1. Oh, very exciting, I’m off to do that.

  2. I spent a good bit of time trying to figure out how a book could NOT be full of spoilers for itself before I realized you meant it’s full of spoilers if someone were to leak it. This is a sign that I need to go home.

  3. Had to give it a try, too. And now that I’m back here I note that I used my other e-mail address when I did. Ah, it’s late in the day for me.
Congratulations to those who get it.

  4. Yeah agree with you guys, I had to give it a try too :)

  5. If I had the time I would!!! Alas, it is Christmas knitting time and I just busted my damn thumb (cut it open on a Christmas lightbulb! ARGH!). I will patiently (read:salivating) wait with the rest of peons for this one!

  6. Would be so cool!

Email is sent and fingers are crossed! =)

  8. Karen Henry says:

How would I sign up to be a Beta reader. What is the e-mail address.

if can’t do it this time would like to try for next time. Pleeeeeeeeeeese.

  9. I had to give it a shot.. I just finished my second read of Steel’s Edge

LOVED IT!! (even the small typo in son’s vs sons in the kindle edition)

  10. Good luck! I know I used to put in to beta… but right now I just don’t have the time. Hopefully someone helpful gets it done for you!

  11. My hopes are way up! I hope they don’t get smashed like a merc on Boone’s Farm!

I imagine the transfer and selection of beta readers goes something like this: http://www.unshelved.com/2012-11-27

  13. geh. no offense but i’d rather wait for the full book.

  14. I’d love to be a BETA reader, but alas,
1.) I don’t have the time to give extensive feedback and
2.) I would not like to be spoilered and then have to wait some more months to find out the end :-( .

Hopefully, the readers that get chosen will appreciate it and do a good job. Good luck!

    • Same here. Plus, Ilona and Gordon’s books are always awesome. I would freak if I have to edit that!!

  15. I really wish it wasn’t the end of the semester because my school work is all starting to pile up. Sighs. If only.

  16. Does anyone know when we find out if we are accepted to beta read?

  17. I would love to but I’ll hate to spoil it for myself. I’m suffering from withdrawal from this series.

  18. Email sent. Now I’m second-guessing myself if I typed in my email addy correctly, or didn’t proof-read properly, or . . . sometimes being a perfectionist sucks!
Am sooo looking forward to Steel’s Edge: my “Real! Paper!” copy is coming from the UK [I'm in Australia], but I’ll grab the ebooks too – I am so happy about Ilona Andrews’ decision to self-e-publish for Australia & UK. Are Magic Bleeds / Slays / Rises etc. included in that policy decision?
    Mwahs!

  19. Beta–I love your books! I realize I have not done this before but you will have to do what is best for you.
    Thanks!

  20. I stopped sleeping the year my daughter was born. I can and will stay up all night to read any Ilona Andrews works! I need more! Like a lost person in the dessert I thirst for more Ilona Andrews adventure, humor, quirks, strength, etc.! Is there a permanent Beta tester list I can join? I’ll do the dreaded dishes even!

    Your anxiously awaiting fan.
    Mary

  21. Neal Bravin says:

    Ilona,

Understand you prefer already been there Beta’s, but here’s my bid to ask for a chance. I think you already know what a big fan I am and that I do read fast and accuarately.
Here’s a tease ( I don’t mind playing with fire ) You asked me not to proofread Steel, but I did note at least one error, I think. Don’t know if it was caught. Want to know what it was? send me an email.

  22. Beta – Add me to the list, please. Love the series and I previously worked editing for a magazine.

  23. Jeremy/NEMO says:

If it were not for my finals all this week and next for school I would be more then willing to dig BETA test the book and read through it for you. You have an interesting style of writing. That’s hard to describe. I would be interesting to develop the world a bit more and fill in gaps. Such as due to how magic shifts and affects vehicles, how is it that Samian can ship in so many European cars. I suppose just after the shift there is a gap of time in which a normal ship could move. Also couldn’t ocean going ships and airplanes be powered by the magical water engines? And what impact does the magic have on oceans does it create crazy monsters like the magical forests seem to be full of?

Sorry for all the questions I am going for a Major in history, minor in Writing. But enjoy researching “turn of the century technology” iE 1880-1910.

    NEMO.

Is there any type of requirement to be a beta readers? English is my second language and although I have no problems understanding and writing my grammar and spelling aren´t the best. I never know wether to sign up for betaR in case any of that is important or if all authors need is an opinion.

  27. Sent an email via the contact page – I would love to be a beta reader, if you are still looking.

  28. I volunteer to be a BETA reader if you are still looking. k:))
