The diet of low-carbs and no-sugar continues. The BMI is down by 4 points the last time we checked a couple of weeks ago and I’m steadily losing on average a pound a week. Today I’m so sleepy and really don’t want to go, but I have to.
On one hand the weight loss is encouraging – yay, less weight. On another, I’ve now lost about fifteen pounds. It’s not water weight, but actual body fat reduction. I do not see a dramatic difference. On someone thinner a loss of 15 pounds would be dramatic. On me… My clothes might a bit looser. That’s about it. I could drop a lot of weight fast, according to our trainer, but this weight loss would be traumatic and wouldn’t stick. So on I go, plodding along. It is so frustrating.
Honestly, today my biggest motivation for the gym is Gordon’s promise to take me to Michael’s. I’ve ran out of yarn for the sweater. Who knew that six balls wouldn’t be enough? We will now pause for the male audience members to finish snickering.
…
Okay.
Working hard on Kate. Got hit with a really interesting idea. Usually by now reviews of Steel’s Edge would have popped up, but I’m not seeing them. If you got an ARC or a PDF of the Edge series in the past but for some reason were skipped this time around, please drop me a line.

Congratulations! I know it’s really hard work and very, very frustrating when you don’t visually see any changes. It took me almost 3 months to see even the slightest change, and of course everyone’s different so hang in there, you can do it
You’re doing great and you’ll start to feel and see the differences soon. This is that part where you’re tempted to give up right before it gets better! You’re doing amazing!
Isn’t it weird that the high fat, high protein high veg/fruit low carb diet actually works? Like, really well?
I know exactly what you mean about 15# seeming like nothing has changed. But have you taken your actual measurements? What with working out and losing weight/gaining muscle, I think you might be surprised.
You go girl! It is hard work and may not seem like anything is happening, but it is!!! And soon you’ll feel the need to wear more clothing cuz you won’t be able to keep warm! Then you’ll be annoyed, but happy because, as my husband put it, you’ll have lost your “winter coat.” I’ve always had my winter coat and now I’m learning what it’s like without it!!! Yay us!
Keep at it. You can do it!
I’ve never received an ARC or PDF of the Edge series, but I’d love one, and would definitely leave reviews if I were a lucky recipient.
Cheers,
Liz

Would be happy to review it for you.
The Biggest Loser notwithstanding, weight loss is NOT the reason you go to the gym. The things you get from working out include improved cardiovascular health, stamina and a better shape. With low carb, you are on the right track on your weight loss. Since when do we believe what the government tells us is good for us — especially when it comes to nutrition??? If I may take the liberty, I’d like to recommend “Wheat Belly” by Dr. William Davis. It has opened my eyes as much as Gary Taubes, “Good Calorie, Bad Calorie” did. Good luck over the holidays.
I’m really not a fan of trainers in general who are all about losing the weight – to me, it is developing the healthy habits that will increase your lifespan; turning the fat into lean muscle (which will make you weigh the same, if not more) and in general being healthier.
I’ve been playing around with paleo diet for about a year now (no wheat products, limited dairy, lots of lean meats and vegetables) and have never felt better (I highly recommend it) – I have gotten leaner, but ultimately put weight on (most ppl who look at me think I weigh a good 20lbs less than I actually do). However, according to my BMI, I am overweight – because it doesn’t take muscle into account, it is purely a height/weight calculation.
Anyways, rant/advice off – good luck, keep up the awesome work. yay Gordon for taking you to Michaels – and I can’t wait for my library reserved copy of Magic Slays to show up, so I can continue the series.
Its good to hear about you working out. I know its slow work I’ve only been doing it for a month and only lost two inches. Have you thought about doing adult ballet classes to help with the boredom of working out. You are a knitter or crochet. Do you belong to raverly? I am a knitter.
I would say, you are doing right thing by not try to reduce the weight fast as it lead to more weight gain when you stop dieting. Losing weight naturally is the best and most effective which gives long lasting weight loss results.
Contratulations on your slow but successful weight loss!!! I’m in my mid 40′s and hit the “major hormone upheaval/can’t lose an ounce stage”. I tried healthy low cal/good fat/lotsa colorful veggie/fruit type of dieting including cutting out most salt and sugar and incorporating exercise. I followed the plan for 3 months and sadly did not lose a single pound (although I felt great). Then I took a co-pay-cation (defined by me as: vacation for over-the-hill person who has no other time get all the medical tests needed). I discovered that severe anxiety for a full week can take 8 pounds off without diet or exercise….
