Fussy-fussy-fussy

Fussy-fussy-fussy

So here we were, having written Andrea’s book, which was kind of difficult to write.  I think we may have actually done what we set out to do, so I don’t know.  Anne really liked it.

I thought we could take a week off. I said, please talk amongst yourself.

Haha!  Not so fast.

Ok we are ready for you to come back and talk to us…lol

Where are you?  You stopped posting…

I just want you to know that if something happened, we’re here for you.

Shiloh became concerned.

recovering?
hiding?
okay?

And the coup de grace

Are you dead?

We are not dead! We took a week off.  It’s called vacation. :P

So then we come back and load  a new theme.  The old one was creaking a bit under the strain of WordPress updates and those super long thumbnails kind of drove me nuts.  They look nice, but getting a new thumbnail image of at least 600px in width for every post proved to be too much work.

We load the new theme.  Oh noes!  We don’t like it.  Your paper stack isn’t perfectly stacked – it’s not meant to be, btw – and the sidebar is in the wrong spot and there is too much and not enough space in the comments, and fuss-fuss-fuss.  Cry-cry-cry.

If you don’t like change, just wait until you read the Edge 4.  We’re killing everybody.   You guys said there wasn’t enough angst in FATE’S EDGE.  :

:rolls up sleeves::

I’ll give you angst.  Just you wait.

On a more serious note, I’ve reloaded a different theme with the exact same images.  This one has a little more power under the hood.  The comment page link is now more clearly marked: it’s right where the comment number is.

Today will be the prep day – tomorrow we officially start on Edge 4, so today we need to get the synopsis down and the character descriptions.

And how was your week?

PS.  For people who asked: this theme is very slightly modified News Theme, which can be found here: http://themehybrid.com/themes

Love the site and Happy Vacation. Goodness knows, you deserved it! I was not one of the “lack of angst” commenters – had so much fun reading Fate’s Edge. My DH is now reading Kate Daniels. So now we are both looking forward to Andrea’s book. Happy writing.

  2. First day of semester. Horrible!!! Had 5 classes and am so tired. I have not had the opportunity to read the new edge book, but I don’t believe the people that said you didn’t have enough angst. lol. Glad you back from vacation and hope you had a wonderful rest.

  3. Love the new layout btw. Totally awesome =)

  4. “Are you dead?” -> This is so funny! Glad you got to take some time off. It’s always nice to relax and unwind, without having to worry about work. Congrats on the new layout! I get bored with a theme after some time so I keep changing my blog’s layout too. But I just have a free WordPress blog so there aren’t that many choices. :P

  6. Neat page! I love it very sophisticated professional looking :)

  7. Well, I’m glad to see your clearly calamitous and obviously NEAR-DEATH INEXPLICABLE ABSENCE is over. Phew. My nails were getting bitten to the quick.

  8. “The comment page link is now more clearly marked: it’s right where the comment number is.” << The comment number doesn't appear unless I click through to the post. It isn't on the main page unless I'm missing it. Why yes, I do poke at software for a living.

  9. Hehehe…we’re in a deep freeze (-25C before windchill), therefore I am hibernating with my e-reader, my children with their toys, our dog with his new flashing ball, and Hubby with his I-Phone. Hope next week is a little warmer.

  10. Hot damn, I have a cable modem again! I was here for the Great Pacific Northwest Snowmaggedon! No one here has any skill for dealing with snow. Trees too – they topple, shatter, fling their branches into power lines (and cable lines for that matter). What a frickin’ mess.

Anyway, welcome to Edge 4, guys! May it be a joy to write and bring angst to all of our hearts.

  11. I assumed vacation or break or whatever. Didn’t stop me from checking every day just in case ;-)

Hope you spent it doing only fun things and eating yummy stuff.

Congrats on finishing Andrea’s book!! Can’t wait to see it.

What do you mean vacation? You just work when you want to anyway because you are self employed. I actually had a prospective client tell me that when I told him I could not get started on their work for a week since my wife and I were going out of town for the honeymoon we never got because both of her parents were seriously ill when we got married. They were shocked when i refused to accept their offered work :) Glad you got to recharge the literary batteries.

  13. Who said there wasn’t enough angst in Fate’s Edge? What are they, nuts? Death, torture, nasty villains, and the good guys still won. What’s not to like?

  14. You kill off William and Cerise and I’ll make angry noises!^^ Seriously though, yay for time off, you two deserve it. Thanks as always for what you do!

  15. After work on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday I made 3 kinds of cookie dough, prepped two tea sandwich fillings, shopped for stuff to make two more kinds of tea sandwiches, veggies, cheese, & pickles for the relish tray, made huge amount of simple syrup for punch(and scrubbed stove top for 2 day to get the cooked on sugar off) for an event for 30 or more people to be held on Saturday. On Friday predicitions of ice storm on Saturday had the event rescheduled for a week later. So – froze cookie doughs, 6 loaves of bread, & one type of sandwich filling (the other one doesn’t freeze) and am now praying the cherry tomatoes & celery sticks will keep for a week. Saturday – no ice, just snow, but the plow didn’t show up until very late anyway. Sigh.

  16. Glad you could enjoy your break. :)

A like the new design, even if it was a bit shocking at first.

  17. I had kind of assumed you were taking a few days to decompress and relax. Didn’t stop me from obsessively checking to see if you had updated though. :p

  18. Whew! Glad to see you back. I hope you enjoyed your vacation.

  19. M. J. Garcia says:

I think you have spoiled us, I didn’t complain about anything btw, but I checked every day to see if you had any new post. And I want to remind you about the new Gmail… just saying, best wishes you guys, change is always for the best.

  20. Trish Henry says:

    You make me laugh! Awesome!

  21. Hahahahaha someone actually asked you if you were dead??? Only UF and Paranormal fans huh LOL

Im kicking myself – I should have emailed and asked if you had all been turned into Vampires LOL

I am glad you had a week off, its amazing what a little break can do. Congrats on Anne loving Andreas book – I cant wait to read it :)

    Cheers
    Jess

So glad you’re back. Hope the vacation was enjoyable. Will not mention length, as they are never long enough, but next time please give a little warning so we won’t worry. Loved the snippet. Much appreciated. Not sure how evil you were being when you said you’d kill everyone in the next Edge book, but I for one don’t need more angst. I’m quite happy with them as they are.
Agree with other poster about the floating books being anchored and the text screen moving instead. And I really do miss the snowball banner as it was my favorite. Otherwise, the changes don’t bother me (not that it really matters, just sayin’).
My week started awful: dentist appointment + extremely sensitive teeth= lots of discomfort. On the plus side, while suffering I got to listen to the early Beatles, interspersed with interview snippets. A radio station was changing over (ANOTHER!?! all news format) and were airing the History of Rock and Roll. Started in the fifties, ended at 1980 and covered everything in between. Lasted almost 48 hours then repeated. Alas, they finally did change over Sunday. So sad.
I’ve been reading the blog for a little while now and recently logged into the forum, which I probably shouldn’t have done. All those references to things I haven’t read and can’t find or are no longer available upset me. Oh well.

  23. Annaribbit says:

So sorry I must be blind, because I can’t find the world-building button. I saw it yesterday at the bottom of the blog “Test”, but can’t find it today in “Fussy-fussy-fussy”. One of the comments said it was moved to the top. Like I said, I must be blind.

  24. I really like the new look!

  25. Lightning Flynn says:

I realized that if I said I was working out, I wouldn’t do my stupid dancing (I got some dance game for Christmas and Fit in Six) but I will do it if I think I’m dancing. I’ve been doing 30 minutes a day since the start of the month. In one way I like that I can fool myself that easily but I wish I could also further convince myself I didn’t look like one of those slow zombies of yore dancing badly.
Also, why aren’t I back in shape? Dude, I’ve been doing it almost a MONTH! This is a lifetime in Lightningland!

  26. I like the site^^ . Actually i would like it if it were just black and plain. Because it has YOU in
it, i love it. But the new design is nice too, thank you for your hard work.

A week is all you take between one book and the other? Thats not much and i am not sure
if i should be sad for you or happy for me ( because i am greedy when it comes to your books).

Anyway welcome back! ( And please dont kill the edgers^^)

  27. welcome back and thanks for new look. I like this better than last, as it loads quicker and still has fun images :)

  28. I like the new theme – I must have looked in while you were changing – sorry.

Glad you had some time off and I’m thrilled that Anne liked Gunmetal Magic. Still August? Fine. I’ll wait.

BTW – Thank you for steering me to both Meljean Brooks and Shiloh Walker. I’ll read their stuff while I wait for yours. :D

  29. Looking forward very much!
Andrea is such a goooood girl! ;-)

  30. deborah d. says:

Love the new look. Very easy to navigate. Glad you were able to sneak in a vacation. :)

  31. Love the site – felt I should poke around a bit since you changed it up AND I found a treat!! I had not read (noticed) A Mere Formality before, but enjoyed it with my morning tea yesterday. So impressed that you can whip up a story, a world, AND a website! Had a fun chat with other women who, like me, know nothing of web designs but what we lack in knowledge we make up in opinions and theories. Thank you for sharing the gifts of your creativity with us. I am glad I found you this fall – and I am glad you are not dead!!

  32. Hey Ilona, Now I will write this and then you will delete it, because I would hate if it became an issue. The lightning thing in front of your name, it looks like half of the waffen SS sign….

    • I know! I just can’t figure out how to delete the wretched thing. I will do my best today to track it down and murder it with extreme prejudice.

  33. Oh, you got my interest when you said that Edge #4 is Richard’s book . And now you promise more angst? You really knows how to make waiting harder… And I love Fate’s Edge.

  34. Whew. I can blow out the candles and take the ribbons off the trees. Glad to hear you guys are okay! Seriously though – you needed a break. We (most of us) get it, and appreciate that without it, you wouldn’t have the energy and creativity to crank out the words we all live to read. You provide my main source of escapism. Only makes send you need some escapism of your own from time to time!

  35. Not to be more of a nudge then necessary, but I rather liked seeing how many comments were made to various posts before actually clicking on them to read in depth; let me know where there might be the liveliest conversation threads!

  36. Heh. I love the new design personally. Also, eh, I kinda figured you guys were taking a break. xD I just had nothing to say on the matter. Glad you guys took a mini-vacation! :) As for angsti-ness… (is that even a word? if it is, did I spell it right?) there’s too much angst in my life already. xD I’ll take happy-happy for a while. :D Love you guys!!! :D

  37. Hope you had a nice vacation and acutally went somewhere. I miss the picture or banner you had on the old web page, but I guess the new page is good. Looking forward to Andrea’s book hope it comes out soon. Hum Edge 4 sounds like it should be a fun filled action packed book, can’t wait to read that one as well. Keep em coming please.

  38. I love the new look! Looking forward to Gunmetal Magic – one of the books I’m MOST looking forward to this year. Glad you guys took some time off – we all need a vacation now and then. I know I wish Calgon would take me away right now. :P

  39. Hmm, there was plenty enough angst for me! Please don’t kill anybody…except the bad guys of course! :-) And vacations are wonderful, aren’t they? The problem is, work is always waiting to ambush you when you get back…

  40. I think the new theme is great! Very clean. Glad to see you back – hope you had a nice, decompressing vacation. ;-)

  41. I LOVED Fate’s Edge! I thought it had enough angst. I love everything you write! I can’t wait for Andrea’s book. Thanks so much for many hours of entertainment.

  42. Please, please don’t kill off everyone in the Edge! I am far too empathic and completely emo. I need my happy endings.

  43. I love how you keep changing the look of the site. I always imagine you do it because you either a) have some time and like to tinker or b) are procrastinating working on something else. (My reason would always be b.)
    Looking forward to Andrea’s book!

  44. Who is demented enough to say there isn’t enough angst in Fate’s Edge? It was just perfect!!!!

Oh noes! No killing of fav characters, pwease!
