I have a routine but necessary doctor’s appointment, which I have to keep, or I will end up waiting months for it, so I will be out. If you are looking for Innkeeper, it was posted on Thursday.
One of our dogs died unexpectedly. She was a big part of our lives. We are asking for your patience at this time, as our responses will be slower. Thank you for your understanding.
PS. We are very backlogged and reading condolences emails will make us all relive it again, so we ask you to please not email us. Thank you.
As of tomorrow, we are on vacation. 🙂 There will be no updates, posts, or other weirdness until we return the following week.
Lets discuss the Innkeeper. Specifically emails and comments like this.
Innkeeper is a labor of love. We do it in our spare time. We do this between our other projects which put the food on the table. Contractual work always takes precedence.
In the past week, we’ve received numerous emails and comments which range from despair and guilt tripping to flat out accusing us of being bad people and telling us what and how we should go about our career etc. I particularly like the comment above which accuses us for having the nefarious plan of promoting ourselves via giving away free fiction. Or the one which lectured us on shirking our responsibilities by doing promotion for another book.
Let me make this absolutely clear: you will not dictate to us how we handle things in our own house.
We’ve received complaints every single day this week. Some of you complained on the release thread of IRON AND MAGIC, a book on which we worked for 8 months. You couldn’t let us have a single day to celebrate.
Now then, if you follow the blog, you will notice that I haven’t posted in while. That’s because my hands hurt so much that not only I have to wear gloves during the day and braces at night, I’m actually getting splinter hemorrhages under my nails. The Diamond Fire is due tomorrow and it’s not done, because my typing time is very limited. I’m going to the doctor on 29th and crossing my fingers it’s not diabetic neuropathy or prediabetic complications or some other weirdo bleeding issue.
You were not privy to this information because you guys didn’t need to know. Every time I say something like one of us has a cold, you guys get really worried. Now you know. This is something to worry about, because obviously mild trauma to the nails, even from my pounding style of typing, shouldn’t result in bleeding. This has been an ongoing issue for several weekd and it needs to be resolved.
Back to Innkeeper: stop emailing to complain. You are making me actively hate this project. Even Gordon had enough yesterday. The more you nag and guilt-trip, the less likely the innkeeper is to continue in the future. It will be up when Diamond Fire is done. You didn’t get an update, because we don’t know when the next installment will be up. Hopefully this weekend, but we will see. Right now it’s Diamond Fire all the time.
